Hello,

I am trying to rip cd's but am unable to, as I keep getting this error message. It appears to read the cd's ok but won't rip them.

I have tried different cd drives and still getting the same results.

Any idea how to get this resolved ?

Which platform/OS are you using? Which version of dBpoweramp Music Converter is installed?

Please post the full error message or post a screenshot, showing the error.

I am using Windows 10.

Reference 16.2

Unfortunately, I am having trouble importing the picture from the phone. I copied it to the clipboard but don't know where to locate that.

That is exactly what the error message reads " Error unable to open file "then the song file " for writing.

I worked it out.

It appears that the drive's permissions changed for the destination folder.

Thanks for trying to help.

Question. Which is the best file to rip to Wave or Flac. I have been told Wave because it is completely uncompressed where as Flac is not.

I have been told Wave because it is completely uncompressed where as Flac is not.

very bad advice. Both formats are lossless. But with FLAC you can get better tagging, and most importantly, built in CRCs in each file that allow one to check for any file corruption in the future. A FLAC (regardless of compression) still decodes to the bit perfect copy of the CD, just like a WAV or an ALAC. But there is lots of bad info on the web where people seem to not understand this. These same folks like to buy $5,000 ethernet cables too.
