View Full Version : CD Ripper (R16 for Mac) stops right after loading CD

I am a Newbie to dBpoweramp

Last week:
Did buy license and installed R15.x for Mac.
Configured using C2-error-detection-capability-disk and all.
Ripped a few CD's - nice :)

Today:
Then this morning, I saw a link in "dBpoweramp Music Converter" startup window saying "upgrade to R16" (or something like that).
I did an upgrade on top of existing R15.x dBpoweramp.
When I load a CD the CD-ripper shuts down - I see attached *1 for one second, then *2.
The problem persists, eventhough I have:

loaded both previously ripped CDs and new ones.
booted mac
uninstalled / installed (setteings surviwed)

I am not able to:

find any "submit bug" info, is this the right way to go?
find any errorlogs - do some exist?

Any help greatly appreciated!

Hello and thanks for your feedback.

We're sorry to hear about your troubles; we'll try to get to the bottom of this as soon as possible.

Please go to dBpoweramp configuration ([Configure] button in the launcher dialog), Converter page, "save configuration snapshot" and email the file it creates to peter@dbpoweramp.com - I will be able to extract various useful bits of information about your system & dbpoweramp setup from it.

As a temporary workaround, I think fetching metadata from online services is somehow tied to this crash, so possibly unchecking "allow dBpoweramp to access Internet" will make the crash go away - but you then lose automatic metadata retrieval which is obviously not acceptable, just a thing to try.

You can also have dBpoweramp R15 and R16 installed side by side (rename either app in Applications folder to avoid name clash - or run R16 from the DMG without installing it) and test R16 while keeping known good R15 version for regular use. If you no longer have your R15 package, please contact us and we'll give you a download link again.

Thank you for a prompt and good reply Peter.

I have just mailed you the dBpoweramp Configuration.tgz

I have tested your hypothesis - and it is correct. I am able to play and rip CD's if internet connection is disallowed.

However, I would prefer a download link to R15.8 (even though R16 seems really nice, metadata is nicer)

And then (just FYI) I will continue to set up a couple of old win10 laptops with dBpoweramp 16.2
FeatureWish:
- Transfer configuration between instances
- WildWish: configuration is in the cloud and autosync'ed to dBpoweramp instances with some way of making local overwrites (e.g. security-rip))

Thanks for the bug report.

I've found the root cause:
A bug in our parser of ID Tag Manipulation rules is causing a crash with certain unexpected input.
This feature expects IF and SET to be in separate lines, not in one line SET after IF. If you remove ID Tag Manipulation DSP's Rule Based Manipulation rules - or change them not to have the last line begin with IF - the crash should go away.

The actual bug has been addressed for the next update.

As for R15.8 download, we'll email it to you shortly.

Thanks Peter :)

FYI: I just set up a windows computer (same IF-SET syntax) ... and also a crash.
