Hello Again...!

I'm getting an error/fail converting a (44.1k 16bit) Flac to a VBR HE v2 AAC (below 56 Kbps) but ONLY FAILS IF the slider is at quality 2 (80 Kbps) or higher. Lower, quality 1 & 2, are fine, and the conversion occurs.

In using this (in particular for sending to slow internet clients or for speech converts) I wonder why the slider can select higher than the "below 56 Kbps" ? In fact, the lowest option is 64 Kbps...?

Thx!

The program is telling you not to select more than 56kbps, if you do it will not convert.

If it is telling me something, it's not telling me well.

One can't select lower than 56kbps, as stated, and the lowest selection is higher.
Furthermore, the lowest selection possible is 64k AND it works at the higher 80k.

Hmmm... that comes across as a bit rude by me. I think I halfway thru a less curt final line! :)

You have to select the CBR modes to select the right bit rate, VBR does not go that low.

Aah, ok. The choice/option is a bit ambiguous/open to operator error.
thx for clarifying!

Can I take it that AAC HE v2 is a CBR only option?

As it stands yes, even if there was a VBR mode which was around 56Kbps, there is no guarantee that VBR will stay that low, it ranges between values so cannot be used.
