Hi everyone just looking for some ideas or suggestions I have some high resolution Music Most of it is 24 bit and 192khz files they are currently in FLAC format my ultimate goal is to convert them in one go from FLAC to Apple Lossless Audio Codec ALAC I am putting them on my iPod Classic 160gb So I need to end up with 24bit /48.00 as this is the highest you can play back on your iPod this will be used for my car audio And iPod DAC Will be bypassed via my head unit The pioneer DEX P99RS so I don't have to worry about iPod downsampling
The way I'm doing it now is really time consuming I have to Convert 24bit/192 FLAC to AIFF24bit/48 and then to ALAC so takes awhile The whole process if possible I would like to do it in one go as less conversions is always better isn't it ?

Thank you very much Mitchell &*128522;

Use the DSP effect 'Resample' and convert direct to ALAC.

I do this regularly for my iPod classic. Thorough research has shown me that while the iPod classic is said to be able to play 24 bit, that what it actually does is lop off the extra 8 bits down to 16 without dithering. This is not good. You'll want to use dbpoweramp to both resample and also to dither the 24 bit down to 16 bit with triangular dither. Also, you will get less artifacts and better sound if you resample down by powers of 2. The iPod classic can play anything up to 48 khz, but highest isn't always best. For example: if your original is 24/96 or 24/192, then dividing by 2 until you get to 48 or below will mean that your best sample is 48khz. HOWEVER, if your original is 24/176400 or 24/88200 then you should downsample to 44.1, not to 48. Here is the DSP settings i use when doing this. If you choose to volume normalize, you can see where i do that. If you don't volume normalize, just skip that step:

Bit Depth (to 32 bit for manipulating the file)
Resample (to 44100 or 48000 depending on the original source file)
Volume Normalize (I use ebu r128)
Bit Depth (to 16 bit with triangular dithering)
