Art saved in folder or in Tag?

I couldn't find this described elsewhere, so apologies if it's redundant.

Does PerfectTunes assign/embed the art into the tag for the file or does it save a file in the folder?

Thanks for the response. I bought a copy of PT for the art tagging functionality primarily and I am fairly happy with it. There is a strange issue (for maybe 3% of files that are assigned art) where the tags are all deleted. The art is still attached, however. Is this a known issue? Is there a way to prevent it. The dedup feature works flawlessly. Perhaps, much further down the road it might be nice to have the option to display the folder that the compared files are stored in (as that was an old sorting system I used and makes a deal-breaker diagnostic for two very similar files). Thanks for developing this.

Perhaps the files have an ID Tag which cannot store album art, such as mp3 files with id3v1 tag?
