View Full Version : R15 MP3 decoder not reporting errors in files that crash 14.2

I have some mp3 files that cause the 14.2 converter to hang on 100% cpu. In R15 these same files convert without any error being reported!

So I have to stay with R14.2 because I need to be warned about corrupt files, even if it means the conversion is interrupted.

Can this be fixed?

dBpoweramp Configuration >> Codecs >> Advanced

Set the mp3 decoder 'decode errors' to Report as Error

I should have said I already have that option selected.

The files that reported an error in 14.2 are also reporting an error in R15. That is fine.

The files that crash the 14.2 converter are not being reported in R15. That is the problem.

Perhaps there was a bug in r14.2, the converter should never crash.

No I don't think so.

MP3 Diags (http://mp3diags.sourceforge.net/) reports multiple errors, and you can even hear an audible glitch in the track.

Also mp3utility (http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Audio/Other-AUDIO-Tools/MP3Utility.shtml) reports the following errors:

Error: Sync error reading frame header 182 expected at byte 176,337. Approx. time: 0:04 (6.4% through audio).
Previous valid frame header located at byte 175,377
Resync failed (no matching frame header found within 2,000 bytes).

Should the decoder pick up errors like this?
