According to OPPO the BDP-83 now supports 24-bit LPCM over DLNA with the new beta firmware, release date February 1, 2011, main version BDP83-54-0130B.

When I check the L24 (24 bit LPCM) supported option in the Asset UPnP advanced settings, my 24-bit flac files do not show in the BDP-83 browser.

If I uncheck the L24 option, the flacs appear in the BDP-83 browser (but I think the files are forced to 16-bit by Asset with this option unchecked).

Is there anything else I need to do in Asset to get the files to stream as 24-bit?

I have now tested this with wav files. Same result as for flac files.

Neither wav or flac 24-bit files show in the BDP-83 browser when L24 is selected in the Asset advanced settings.

You would have to ask how they are supporting 24 bit lpcm, as the L16/audio is for 16 bit only, we can supply a L24/audio but they have to be able to read that.

Spoon, in which version of Asset was L24 implemented?

Yes, I thought so. OPPO claim that they had 24-bit files streaming to the BDP-83 in earlier versions of Asset.

I shall inform them that they were probably getting forced L16 for the 24-bit files.

After an email from OPPO and after trawling av web forums, some users and OPPO have made claims that 24-bit files were definitely being read as 24-bit files by the BDP-83 with Asset UPnP v.2.1.

Was this ever possible with Asset v.2.1?

Not if lpcm was being used
