the quality is definitly improved before you updated, this codec is great.

the first few seconds are getting cut off for some reason, and sometimes the last few also

I too can verify that the first 2-3 seconds seems to be getting cut-off.

Any idea on how to work around it (.spx -> .mp3/.wav) ?

BTW: speex-1.0.2 is released and its windows encoder/decoder are
available here,

http://rarewares.hydrogenaudio.org/others.html

Can the above mentioned codecs be used without waiting for the
next beta release (I'm not sure what they will be) ? If so, what is
the procedure to getting them to work with dbpoweramp ?

I also forgot to mention the following sites for more speex related codecs,

http://www.openacm.org
http://www.openacm.org/project.php?project=Speex+ACM

Hope those help bring this to reality sooner.

What is a voice only codec?
Thank you.

It just means the codec is written with voice recordings in mind rather than music. I've never used it but I'm guessing it would make songs sound pretty funky :P

You could use it for stuff like digital dictation or any other kind of speech only recording.

Updated to Beta 3.

What's the URL to download this beta and why isn't it listed in
the "Codec Central" page anyways ?

I'd love to test it out and give you feedback, but even the last
one I tested was good enough to be available on the code-central
page; its prime time the general masses saw it and used it ;-)

Regards.

If I can get some feedback on this new beta it will go for release.

This version or release or whatever works great - I don't hear the
previous delay and have nothing but praise :-) Do please release
it and include it along side its sister codec's in 'Codec Central'; it
very much is ready.

Thanks Spoon for all your hard work !! and do please continue this
great effort (you should consider a linux port ;-).

Hello guys,

I have accidentally bumped into this forum while trying to find some info on Speex codec. I would really appreciate if someone helps me to resolve some issues how to use this codec.

here is some info.

I am using Dialogic T1 card to receive voice (mu-law, 64Kbit / sec). Every time the application accumulates 1536 bytes of voice, it needs to compress and send it over IP.

I am stuck how to use Speex to compress it. The function looks like this:

void CompressAndSend (const char* cData, int iLength = /*1536*/ )
{
// What am I supposed to write here to compress it correctly?
}

thanks a lot

Is there anyway to setup the speex codec to be used as a CLI Encoder i want
to use the latest 1.15.
Thanks for the great work by the way, love the converter.

If you download the generic CLI codec you can then use any encoder.
