Lets say I take a WAV file, convert it to FLAC, then convert that to WAV. While the song is the same (sounds it, wavform looks it), the filesize of the 2nd WAV is always different than the first one. Any explanation for this? They are almost the same size, usually a couple thousand bytes off. What would one do if they wanted to get a 1:1 copy (exact filesize) from the FLAC though? So far it hasn't been possible with basic converting. And are there tools available that compare only the audio portion available of files if metadata is to explain for the size differences?

The wave will be identical, the filesize can change, yet the data can be the same.

I know that, you just repeated what I said. Why does that happen though?
