I'm using Asset UPnP on my Windows Home Server and accessing my files from my PS3. I originally ripped a few mp3's and the cover art appears on the PS3 in both the list of songs and when it's playing and it shows the album art for that song.

I just downloaded dBpoweramp and ripped my cd in flac and this time, I see the cover art in my list of songs, but it doesn't show up when it's actually playing. Any idea why this would be and is there a way to display it when the song is playing?

Thanks.

If I remember the PS3 can only show art for files it has stored on its local HDD.

My PS3 Slim 250GB model will show artwork for streamed media. I rip my cd's to ALAC using dbpoweramp. I stream to the PS3 with PS3 media server. PS3 Media Server transcodes the files to PCM, but it will also show album artwork.

UPnP streaming?

you just have to embed the artwork in each file and it works fine.

UPnP streaming?

Yes it's a DNLA server using UPnP streaming.

The problem is actually when using dBpoweramp to rip an mp3 file. When I do so, I can see the coverart in the list of mp3 files, but not when I actually play the file.

When I rip an mp3 using Windows Media Player, I get the cover art both when viewing the list of mp3 files and when playing them.

I'd prefer to use dBpoweramp though and rip as flac. Any idea why dBpoweramp is behaving differently? (I suppose this should be in the dBpoweramp forum since it's not a problem with Asset Upnp)

It sounds like the PS3 is very picky about embedded art work (in mp3), we use the ID3v2 reference libraries for writing tags (you cannot get much more compatible than that!)

In case anyone else is having this problem, I learned that PS3 won't accept large album art files. I just changed the setting in dBpoweramp to resize album art to 250 pixels and it worked fine after that.

Hello,
I set the "Size album art 160x160" in Asset options to get embedded album art on PS3 whatever the original format is. It works almost always with images that can be greater than 1400x1400 (cannot say why in some cases it doesn't, since all my cover arts are all stored the same way in my ALAC files).

Spoon, maybe would it be possible to add an alternative option "Size album art 250x250" to get a better quality ?

Best regards

The PS3 is displaying embedded art work, this option in asset has no effect on embedded art.
