Hi Spoon,
I think there's been a misunderstanding...
I don't want to remove the information about the gain in the tooltip but within the tracks themselves.
Thanks for your help,
Cheers

This gain is held in the ID Tags, if you remove these tags it is gone.

Actually, IIRC mp3GAIN adjusts some data in the files themselves, but is reversible. You would have to use the mp3GAIN program to undo this operation.

Hi,
I'm a bit surprised because I have no 'GAIN' fields ("Track Gain", "Track Peak", etc) in the ID Tags...
Here is what I have:

MP3GAIN_XXXX should definately show in the tags...
It is also possible to store replaygain information in the lame header, dbpoweramp will read this, but it will not delete / write it.

Hi all,
Actually, I succeeded in removing the gain for some tracks:
http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/91/img6951204.th.jpg (http://img8.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img6951204.jpg)
But for other tracks, it didn't work even after installing MP3 Gain!!! (I always have the same tooltips...)
For instance as you can see below, the "track gain" is still present even after processing the tracks in MP3 Gain...

What should I do?
Thanks for your help
Cheers

Why do you want to remove gain ??? For a better sound ? Regards
Yes because mp3gain has affected sound. I have the same problem and nobody here is able to tell us why we can't remove it ? Is it due to the writing of tags inside the Lame's header ? Someone told me in another forum that since Lame v3.97 or 3.98 it started to write gain infos in this lame's header. MP3Gain is not able to correctly clean its own datas from our MP3 files in spite of what they're claiming on the developer's site. If would know that it was a lie I would never have used it, but now that it's done it's too late.
Still no solution ?

Edit:
Re: How to remove Track Gain from MP3 (http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=16335&p=92224)
Erm, just to add.. in atleast LAME 3.97 b1 (and I assume, LAME 3.97) Track Gain is calculated and written to LAME's header by Default. However, this track gain is NOT applied in any way whatsoever.
Just thought I'd give this reply here, since google found me this thread.

Maybe TidyMP3 ? Any advice ?
By the way, my MP3 files are encoded with an old version of dBpowerAMP and LAME v3.96r and when I try to re-encode it with the same bitrate but LAME v3.98r, the mp3gain tags are still there. Thanks to dBpowerAMP ID3 Processing feature through DSP cause it has helped me to remove any Replay Gain tags. At least...
