If I convert from lossless to AAC, the files play fine in foobar2000 (which is the only AAC player I have). However, if I then use ID Tag Update to add cover art, foobar then gives this error message:

Unable to open item for playback (Unsupported format or corrupted file):
"F:\MP4 (AAC Nero) Library\Music\Pop\Paul Simon\Graceland\01-The Boy In The Bubble.m4a"

If I use ID Tag Update to delete the cover art, it still gives the error message.

I'm using dMC 13.1 Reference (it also did this using the 13.1 beta), XP SP2, and the brand new Nero encoder 1.3.3.0 (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=66050 for anyone who missed it!)

The defacto standard for m4a is Apple iTunes, try that file with album art in iTunes, if it works then the problem lies with foobar.

As I said (implied) I don't use iTunes. Anyone who does want to try?

I just tried this using Mp3tag v2.41 to do the adding/removing of cover art. Result - foobar plays the files with no problems. So I tentatively suggest there's a small problem with the ID Tag update utility codec. Sorry! :(

Send over a effected file, I have iTunes about the place to try.
