Install the mp3PRO input decoder from Codec central (floow the instructions exactly).

To get that plugin to work I had to make a fake file called XMplay.exe(for the older version) and winamp.exe(for version 1.2) for the installer to detect or else it wouldn't extract the file. In fact I also found a copy of the dll itself off of www.filemirrors.com

Well now it plays mp3pro files fine(ogg is better) but now MusicConverter crashes when I take the audio out of a .mpg, with any codec.

You might try something like virtual dub to extract the audio as a wav file. Check out http://www.virtualdub.org/index

Well I found out what's wrong. It turns out that the end of the mpg is corrupted, on both of the files I was trying. Thanks for all your help spoon & clete

You can capture audio as a separate file from avi or mpeg files.
