I'm just starting out with dbPowerAmp and it's very impressive however one niggle.

I'm ripping to WM 9.2 lossless, it is getting all the meta data correctly but when I check the file on disk (or through the GUI), no id tags have been written to the file.

The settings in poweramp look correct to me (including the "don't write id tags - which is unchecked).

What am I doing wrong?

Are you looking at the dMC "Edit Tag" or "Audio Properties" tabs, or the system "Properties" tab?

I'm looking at the id tags in the file. Eg. right click the file look at properties and pick ID-Tag tab, or look at "artist", "title" columns in Windows Media Player library - all blank.

If I rip a cd using iTunes and convert to WM lossless, the tags are preserved. It's just if I use dbPoweramp to rip the file it does not populate the tags despite clearly having the meta data for the cd.

Hold the mouse over a WMA file, dBpoweramp will show the tags it contains, does it show any tags?

If the file was ripped by iTunes then yes, it shows tags.
If the file was ripped by dbPoweramp then no it doesn't show any tags.

iTunes would not rip to WMA lossless.

Anyhow, make sure on the DSP tab (CD Ripper) is not an id tag processing DSP effect.

iTunes would not rip to WMA lossless.

As I said - I used converter to convert from apple lossless to WMA, and poweramp preserves the tags and I can see them in Windows Media Player.

This is a fresh install there are no DSP effects selected.

dbPoweramp is getting the album art, the track listings and showing all the track info but for some reason is not creating the id3tags in the wma file.

wtf is going on?!

Could you paste a clipboard-dump of your dBpoweramp Configuration of the main tab and the Codecs tab, please?

Vitist:

http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central-utility.htm

and install the top item [Audio Info]

Right click on one of the WMA files and >> Convert To >> Audio Info post the results here please. Also change the encoder to mp3 (Lame), in CD Ripper, rip 1 track, does the mp3 file contain tags?

Ripping as Lame MP3 works successfully and the track has ID-3 tags correct.

So - something wrong with the WMA lossless codec maybe?

Uninstall the dBpoweramp WMA codec. Reboot computer, reinstall.

Run this reset program here:

http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=13285

(go with default 2 options, not the \program files\ one)

Then try (you will have to reactivate AMG after running the above).

Pardon my ignorance - how do you uninstall an individual codec?

Spoon
06-16-2008, 02:50 PM
In uninstall programs (codecs are listed with each other install on the system).
