Hi I have purchased db today after testing it out but i cannot get amg info to appear. The software keeps defaulting to freedb and when i turn that off it doesn't recognise the cd. This is with several cd's all legit.
anyway if someone could please help me that would be great

Run dBpoweramp Configuration to see the status of AMG.

this is what i get from config and debug. I'm running AVG antivirus and zonealarm and i get the same problem if it is on or off. no problems with freedb.

Could you paste what the first tab of dBpoweramp Configuration says?
Also, what security software are you running?
Edit: n/m, I see that you are running Zone Alarm and AVG.
Just a side note.
I run ZoneAlarms and after we installed and ran the most recent dbpoweramp Pro version we got the usual notifications from ZoneAlarms about dbpoweramp's behavior. We replied Allow and Remember this behavior. We have had no problems with getting to AMG behind the ZoneAlarms firewall.

Try the R13 version, it had a slight change to make it work with Kasparsky.

Something on your system, or ISP is filtering / changing the AMG data.
