Hi! I'm using dmC 12.3 and am having issues accessing metadata from freedb. I searched the FAQ and Forum and know of the debug option - which I executed. Following is the log it generated:

Any help in getting this up and running is appreciated as I don't want to have to count on iTunes for my rips. For the record, I am using Windows Firewall and AVG Free Anti-Virus. I have ID'd dbPoweramp as an allowed program for the firewall. Also, both iTunes and Windows Media Player can find data, the former being much more accurate, the latter being close to useless and frustratingly close.

Cheers!

You have no other firewall except the Windows firewall? What about other security programs besides AVG?

Thanks for the quick response. The only other similar protection program that I have running in the background is Windows Defender. My OS is Windows XP Media Center 2005 if that helps at all. Otherwise, Windows Firewall and AVG are all that I am using.

Are there other computers on your network on which dMC can retrieve meta-data from FreeDB?

I'm running a Dell laptop with Vista, and, after firing it up and giving it a whirl, discovered that I am experiencing the same problem with the CD Ripper on that computer.

For what it's worth, I used the program about 1 week ago and was able to access the freedb database.

I too am having freedb issues today with both dbPoweramp and Plextor Plextools. Yesterday everything was fine, today no access????????

freedb.org is down, if you install R13 alpha you can use tracktype instead.

Thanks Spoon. That did the trick. Great to have this all working again. I had looked at the freedb site but didn't see any mention of an outage - appreciate the assist.
