Illustrate has aquired 2x new servers to replace the 2x four year old servers dbpoweramp.com currently runs on.

The new servers will offer quite a boost in speed, each one has 4 cores and 4GB of memory (currently on single core 1 GB). In addition feature hardware firewalls (currently software), RAID 1 disk mirroring and load balancers (sends traffic between the 2 servers) will be used.

Such a setup costs atleast 2x more than is possible to host dbpoweramp.com with, but the uptime record of dbpoweramp.com in the last 3 years has been very close to 100%, so is worth it.

Software wise, one server will run Windows Server 2003, the other RedHat Enteprise, both will host dbpoweramp.com (this design will ensure maxium uptime, in the unlikely event one server crashes, or is compromised).

The Windows Server 2003 will also host dbpoweramps shopping cart, which will take over from swreg.org. In addition a new dbpoweramp registered retrieval system will be implemented.

These changes will be phased in over 3 months, this forum will also recieve a software update.

This forum has been re-arranged (unused forums merged), hopefully it is now easier to navigate.

dbpoweramp.com is on the new server (the old ones have gone quiet after working solidly for 3 years).
