Hi, all,
I am a newbie here so please be gentle! I was attempting to convert a file I have into mp3 format, but dB informs me I need an "m2v codec". However, when I connected to the codec website I couldn't find this particular format anywhere.
Does it go under a different name? Does anyone have a link or a page where I can get this codec from, please? I installed Windows Media Player Classic to try to play it, but all I get is that it is "unable to render it" or "unable to render the graph" which I really don't understand at all. Please help.
Regards,
V

.m2v files contain video data only. dBpowerAMP Music Converter deals with audio files only. If there was audio data associated with this video file it wuold be perhaps in a .wav format, though I am not entuirely positive about this.

In any case, .mp3 does not support video data. You will need to locate the corresponding audio file associated with the .m2v video file and convert that.

For further information, you may wish to consult the following resources:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M2V
http://ghost.rider.edu/insttech/?p=158

You can also use your search engine of choice to search for information on ".m2v" format or files (or other terminology of your choice-please note the importance of the initial dot before m2v).

Hope this helps.

Best wishes,
Bill

Thank you for the reply - it's no wonder I can't get any sound out of this file, then, lol!!
Thanks for the help again, xoas,

The fact that media player classic couldn't play it suggests that either the file is corrupt, or perhaps has the wrong extention.

*.m2v = mpeg2 video in an mpeg2 transport stream (MPC can play these)
