Philips HDD070 How-to
I have spent the last 4 days trying to get new music imported onto my son's Philips HDD070 that his older sister gave him when she got a new Ipod Nano for Christmas... this was a mess and had me baffled for days.
Problem: Software was originally installed on daughter's pc which no longer exists, so I had to install everything on my laptop...Philips DMM software and MusicMatch software kept 'forgetting' the player was connected and when it was successfully connected I could only transfer 1 song at time, else it would lock up. pain Upgraded to the latest Philips firmware for the HDD070 but still no love. Same problems as before. I came up with my ultimate solution (at least for my situation) from several solutions on several different message boards. It is intensive... a little scary (at least to me it was) and takes about an hour or so to complete (this included reloading 350 songs onto the player). FYI, all this was done on a Sony VAIO laptop with XP and all OS updates and service packs. All of my music is stored on an external Western Digital 200GB HD. Solution: Things you need: Philips HDD070, USB cable, Latest DMM firmware from Philips (don't bother with the Musicmatch stuff), Sveta Portable Audio Software and Sveta's Philips HDD060 Driver Step1: Format the HDD070 player from within Windows Explorer. (After formatting is finished if you disconnect the player you will get an error message asking you to reconnect the player to the pc. This is NORMAL) Disconnect the player from the pc using the USB stop device thingy.. sorry I don't know what it is called. Then disconnect the USB cord from the player Step2: Install the latest DMM firmware from Philips & Reboot your PC (http://www.p4c.philips.com/na4/h/hdd...17_fus_aen.exe ) Step3: Reconnect your player via the USB cable & Run the DMM software. You will be prompted to upgrade or restore. Since your player drive was formatted you have nothing to upgrade so CHOOSE RESTORE to factory settings. The new 5.2 firmware version will be installed on the player(not exactly factory settings, I know). After the DMM is complete it will tell you to disconnect the player to complete the firmware installation. Disconnect the drive using the USB drive disconnect tool. Disconnect the USB cable and allow the firmware to update. The player screen will read "firmware updating". When it is finished the Philips logo will reappear. Note... if the player hangs while updating give it 5 minutes or so and do a soft reset. Then check the settings to make sure you have the new firmware upgrade (v5.2). If not... repeat Step 3. Step5: Install the Sveta Portable Audio software and HDD060 driver if you haven't already done so. Follow the prompts... Reboot for good measure. Step6: Reconnect your HDD070 via the usb cable. Click on the Philips HDD060 link on your desktop to open the Sveta dbpowerAMP software. Step7: Transfer a couple of songs to the Audio Tracks tab. When the transfer is complete, CLOSE the application. Do NOT disconnect the player until the application has finished closing. If you disconnect too soon the database does not get updated properly. Disconnect the drive using the USB drive disconnect tool. Step8: Plugin headphones and verify that you can see/hear the songs you put on the player. Reconnect the player to the pc, Start the Sveta software and transfer away. Step9: Have a beer and try to forget the last 4 days. This took me a little over 1 hr to complete and transfer 350 songs(1.2GB) to my son's player. I know some people have had problems (prior to installing Sveta) with downloading music from an external HD to the player. I did not have any problems at all with this once I installed the Sveta software. I hope this helps someone else ![]() Sharon |

Re: Philips HDD070 How-to
hello there, i just bought this Philips Hdd070 plyer from a friend and it sucks lol, i have gotten it to transfer songs and play them but just yesterday i had a problem with it. When i turned it on , it said "problem.. connect to the computer" and there was the pic on the screen like when you are transferring songs. I have read the troubleshooting but cant seem to figure it out. Have this ever happend to you and what can i do? Oh yea, i downloaded the device manager so i could restore the player to factory settings but the button to restore is invisible and it says please connect when the player is connected. I think ima have to throw it away unless you can help me. Email me at Whoisluuman@yahoo.com if you can, thanks.

Re: Philips HDD070 How-to
hi,
the reason im using sveta is beacuse the software that came with my philips mp3 player doesnt work. The dmm software doesnt work because the button for 'restore' is invincible and it says that i should connect my mp3 player to the computer. Isn't there any other way to restore it ? Re: Philips HDD070 How-to
Hi, I'm new to the forums and I hope you can help me.
I have had my player for around a year now and have always used Music Match with no major problems till now. I was adding music to my mp3 player when Music Match crashed halfway through. When I restarted Music Match will not recognize my player even though the computer clearly was picking it up. I have installed Sveta Portable Audio and it connects to it but its telling me that the database is corrupt. So I was wondering if anyone here has any ideas on solving my problem. Thanks |

Re: Philips HDD070 How-to
Try using the Manufacturer's software to format the player.

Have you tried a soft reset using the power on and the volume up? Make sure you have the power cord connected to it when it's connected to the computer. |
