Then install all the dMC software (I.e. music converter and codecs) to the same folder and you can start converting the files. It would be better if you had your music on your own pc or on an audio cd which you can rip using dMC, since you will otherwise have to download it anyway in order to convert it. You can convert the rm file (once it's on your own pc) to anything you want, unless it is protected (in that case refer to http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=5362). If all you have is a link to a ram file, then refer to http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=4992 for information on how to proceed. Be advised that conversions from real media are done in real time, i.e. the duration of the conversion is the same as the duration of the song itself, so don't panic if it appears to take long with nothing happening. I'd advise you to convert first to wav (16-bit, 44.1KHz, stereo) and after that convert to mp3 of the quality that is required for uploading to Broadjam. This is so that you may convert from wav to various qualities of mp3 and compare them, without going through the whole process again each time. What do you mean "Which dBpowerAMP Amp is the easiest and best to use"? You have dMC that converts individual files, dMC AUdio CD that rips all the tracks off a cd separately or at once, dMC Auxiliary Input which records and converts audio played through the sound card, CD Writer for creating cd's from all your files that may be in different formats, Sveta for your portable players, dAP which is the all-purpose player, Power Pak which is an add-on to virtually all these programs, and a variety of other tools. They are all pretty much specific to the task at hand. The only overlap really is in the area of extracting and converting an audio track form an audio cd. Both dMC and dMC Audio CD do it, though a bit differently. You can say the minimum requirement is dMC for all file conversions, all the other programs actually use this function as well.

What is the easiest method I can convert them to MP3 (128 bit rate, and which software should I use Thanks again. |

Use dMC Audio CD and convert all the tracks directly from the audio cd (or select just the ones you want to do) to mp3 (Lame) at 128kbps, channels=stereo, frequency=44100, check Advanced and make sure it is Constant Bit Rate and Presets=Normal . Under Set Bits you can use original (copyright may block others from encoding/decodig your file and Broadjam might need to reencode it). You may have to configure dMC Audio CD so it finds your cd rom drive (use the Options button), if it's not the default (you'll know what I mean when you run it). Hopefully it will all work for you easily. Good luck with Broadjam and Taxi ![]()

Christina, on the bottom of that page they have the power pac which you pay for, is there any advantage for me to buy that one instead of the free dmc

If you don't see the list of the tracks and it still tells you to insert cd, click Options. Set the drive associated with your cd rom drive to correct one. If it was correct, click on the Advanced button on the same line and you have a few more options to define your drive correctly. Those really depend on your set up. Assuming you did get the correct drive and now you see a list of tracks: On that same OPtions screen you have several other parameters to set. You can chose what you want to convert to, what folder to send the results to, etc. Just go through all those and set them to what you want and need. In your case now you want to set Rip to MP3 (Lame). Click on Settings and move green slider so it shows 128kbps; below select Channels=Stereo and Frequency=44100Hz. Click on Advanced and Select: Constant Bit rate; QUality=No presets (or Normal); Set Bits=Original. All these settings remain in effect for the next session, so you don't have to change them unless you want to. Ok your way out of all this, until you're back at the main window and click on the Rip button. Sit back and wait until it's all done. If you have problems, come back to the forum and post again, but this should be ok. I am attaching a picture below to show what the various windows look like on my pc.

I only used 128 as an example because it's the most common one.

Re: Can I Convert (ram - rm) files to MP3
here are the exact links to download what u need:
To convert Real Audio file to MP3 (or many other file types), download dBpowerAMP Music Converter (dMC) - http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm the Real Audio Codecs: - http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central-ra.htm and also the "file selector" - http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm*blooper*FileSelector (scroll down) dbpoweramp can handle almost any audio files, even lossless ones. Download the needed codecs here: - http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central.htm For more information on lossless audio files look here: - http://swen.antville.org/stories/424341/ And you are done! This is a very short guide, but all the needed software is pretty easy to handle and help can be found on all the homepages which are offering the sofware downloads. |
