convert new CDs

Hi
I just tried to convert a few CDs which I bought recently
2 of them have players which automatically install in order to play them on a computer
When I try to convert them I get weird numbers and tracklists
I think that all the music data is in a .cds file
Does anybody know how I can convert these CDs to mp3

Thanks

Re: convert new CDs

i don't know all the different types od cd protections but i read that with some protected cd's you can simply hold down your shift key whilst inserting the audio cd. basically you don't want auto cd start up to occur when you pop the cd in. also don't allow the cd software to install.

here is a bit more info with links to cdfreaks that might help too.

Re: convert new CDs

no worries, i'm glad it worked. i think cdfreaks forum might have a thread on what to look out for when purchasing new cd's and identifying which encyption/protection it is using. this way we can all avoid buying protected cd's we can't get around
