    AAC to FLAC

    Starting Dummy;-)

Can one convert AAC to FLAC, and will thsi be the same as if one did CD to FLAC?
What are the issues to take account of?

    Hey Reinier,

AAC is a lossy audio codec, FLAC is a lossless audio codec. So ripping and converting in a lossless audio codec is the way to go.

no, it will NOT be the same as ripping to FLAC from the CD. Once you've ripped to a lossy file (e.g., AAC or mp3), you can't restore things by converting to LOSSLESS. You'll just end up with a very large file that still only has the exact info that was in the lossy file.
