    Strange genre tags

    Hi,

I am experiencing a problem where Asset seems to be reading and displaying some bizarre genre tags that I cannot see within the file. I have checked the file in numerous different tagging programs.

The first (but not only) example is (embarrasingly!) Bananarama - Rough Justice. The genre tag in any other software is correctly recorded and displayed as Pop. In Asset it is displayed as 1984. I cannot find this reference anywhere else. I have tried removing all tags in the file and regenerating them and then rebooting asset but this does not help.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Laurie

If you have dBpoweramp, right click on one track >> Edit ID Tags.

Right, I'm half way there. It appears to be a problem with hidden APEv2 tags in some of my files. Asset seems to read them (in preference over the ID3 tag) whereas just about anything else ignores them. Just have to figure out how to remove these tags, which seems easier said than done!

Convert the file to [Update ID Tag] utility codec.

I am having a similar problem but with album names. Asset reads some differently from the ID3 tag e.g. 'Space Ritual, disc 3' when the ID3 tag is just 'Space Ritual'. But it only seems to be a problem on albums that I've ripped since installing Asset on my QNAP NAS. Why would this be? Is there a way to stop Asset reading, what I assume, are APE tags?

You should remove any tags you not want, really if you have ape and id3 in the same file, they should all contain the exact same.

Spoon ... I've recently moved dbpoweramp to a new computer and I seem to have forgotten how to edit the Genre list. I prefer to use a shortened, simplified genre list rather than the default in dbPoweramp.

Can you please explain how to edit the 'master list' again so only my genre preferences show up when selecting genre?

              Thanks,
              Herb...

                Open Windows Explorer and type:

                %appdata%\dBpoweramp

                there is Genres.txt

Hmmm ... spoke to quickly ... when I go into PerfectTunes ID Tags, I see a completely different Genre list (not the recently edited Genre.txt file). How do I make this the same as my Genres.txt file?
