    Multi-CD Album - Again

Problem: None of the controllers I tried work 100% with multi-CD albums served by Asset UPnP. (Details below.)

The worst offender is Marantz Remote App, which always mangles track sorting. (This is clearly a software problem with this app -- when using the built-in controls on the players, both Marantz NA7004 and M-CR610 sort tracks in the correct order.)

None of the controllers display track information as I set it in Asset UPnP's prefs, ie, [disc no] [track no] [track title].

All (excepting Linn Kinsky) omit the track number.

Linn Kinsky is the only one which does include track number, but fumbles it by putting it before the disc number, and inconveniently displaying it also in Folders & Filename Browsing.

    Remedies? Suggestions? Comments?

    Thanks.

    DETAILS

    ENVIRONMENT

    Server: Asset UPnP v4.3/Win 7 SP1
Relevant setting: Multi-Disc Albums show as '[Disc] [Track] [Title]'
Players: Marantz NA7004, M-CR610, WD TV Live
Controllers: 8player, ArkMC, Linn Kinsky, Marantz Remote App, MediaConnect, PlugPlayer, all on iOS 7; WD TV Live with hardware remote

Music: FLAC tracks, 2-CD album, correctly tagged with Disc No, Track No, Track Title. File names are in the format

    [disc no][blank][track no][blank][track title].flac

    TESTS

Sort order for Folders & Filename Browsing:

    8player, ArkMC, Linn Kinsky, MediaConnect,
PlugPlayer, WD TV Live (all but Marantz Remote App)
sort tracks correctly, ie, by [disc no][track no].

Marantz Remote mangles it, but I couldn't figure out
what sorting keys it uses. Tracks 1 to 7 (both discs)
seem to be sorted by [track no][disc no]. From track 8,
they seem to be sorted by [track no][track title].

Display for Folders & Filename Browsing:

All but ArkMC and Linn Kinsky display the file name.
ArkMC prepends [artist name]; Linn Kinsky prepends
[track no], but this does not affect track sorting.

    Sort order for Artist/Album:

ArkMC, Linn Kinsky, MediaConnect, PlugPlayer, WD TV Live
(all but 8player and Marantz Remote) sort tracks
correctly, ie, by [disc no][track no].

8player mangles it, sorting by [disc no][track title].

Marantz Remote mangles the sort order in exactly the
same way it does in Folders & Filename Browsing.

    Display for Artist/Album:

8player, Marantz Remote App, MediaConnect, PlugPlayer,
    WD TV Live display

    [disc no][period][blank][track title]

    omitting [track no].

ArkMC prepends to this [artist name], but also omits
    [track no].

Linn Kinsky prepends [track no], thus [track no] appears
    before [disc no].

There is little you can do if the control points are changing the presented items.

Thanks, is there any way to check what data Asset provides to the controller?

You would need a control point which did not add anything, I do not know of any.

          Re: Multi-CD Album - Again

I have a problem with (ripped) multi cd album. I use the Oppo controller. I recently reinstalled Twonky (next to Asset) on both MAC and QNAP. Twonky lists and plays correctly multi cd albums (i.e. disc 1 track 1 first, disc 1 track 2, next, etc.) Asset however ignores the Disc no. and lists and plays (disc 1 track 1 and then disc 2 track 1, etc.). Any solutions?

You have enabled the option 'Multi Disc Albums show as [disc] [track] [title]' ?
