Need to convert 0 compression FLAC to uncompressed FLAC?

I've now updated dMC to 14.4 which has the ability to rip to UNCOMPRESSED FLAC. my library thus far is all 0 compression FLAC. Is their a sonic benefit to convert existing library to UNCOMPRESSED FLAC, and if so, can it be done via batch conversion functionality of dMC?? I've never batch converted thus far, so if you can point me to FORUM item that would explain how to do that, i would much appreciate!

Re: Need to convert 0 compression FLAC to uncompressed FLAC?

Some people are sure they can hear a difference, others are sure they cannot. Lossless is lossless, that is all the modes decode to the exact same audio, however the difference is the amount of CPU time required for each, depending on player (such as modern PC) it could be very little cpu for both, or more significant for embedded players.

Changing between the modes is very easy, load batch converter, select your root folder, set the filter to just FLAC, then click convert, leave the folder set 'Original Folder', test on a few files to begin with, or take a backup before.

I batch converted my library which was organized by folders - genre-artist-album. I now have a list of uncomressed FLAC files, but they are totally random and not organized by artist/album, which is what i wanted. What did i do wrong? Can i correct, or must i convert again? I'm having trouble finding detailed instructions on how to set up batch converter. Can you point to location on this site which provides that info? Thanks alot.

If you visit Codec Central Above, in the utility codecs section is a [Arrange Audio], 'convert' the flac files to the codec and they are given the name / location you specify.

see my answers/examples at the end of this thread re: using ARRANGE AUDIO for doing what you want....

Question, Using Latest version of dbpoweramp 14.4 Ripping a CD to WAV - The tracks show up weird, the track numbers shows up at the end of the title. Example: I typed it below, exactly as it show up in the Harddrive. The HD is a Seagate 2 TB drive, not an NAS. TrafficJohn Barleycorn Must DieEmpty Pages03.wav

Thanks folks - very helpful. For the future, is there any way to set up the batch converter to arrange files with the conversion process?

Yes select the Dynamic folder option and you can type names just as in Arrange audio, such as:

              [artist]\[album]\[track] [title]

I use this as my string to automatically handle putting compilations in a different folder (as compared with artist folders), multidisks, and using ALBUM ARTIST, when it exists.

                [IFCOMP]Compilations\[album] [IFMULTI] \Disc [disc][]\[track]-[title]-[artist][][IF!COMP][IFVALUE]album artist,[album artist],[artist][]\[album][IFMULTI] \Disc [disc][]\[track]-[title][]
