how to convert .ra and .rax files

We purchased a program called Total Audio Converter to convert our old Real Audio files to MP3. However, the program does not convert .ra or .rax files. We asked their support and they said we need to download a codec file/program to do this. However, the one we found online came with all kinds of trashware so we uninstalled it. Does anyone have a suggestion on how we should proceed? Which program to use? Or how we can modify what we already have? We're non-techies, so don't really know what a codec is anyway.
