  1. Re: Ripper won't complete last 2 tracks of any CD

For me, it seems that your drive is faulty, and cannot control properly the position of the pick-up through an infinite screw. I used to repair drives suffering from this issue, removing the cover,...
  2. Re: Best optical drive for CD ripping? Is my LG 4163B ok? C2 but poor error correctio

I own very similar drives, and they are very good for audio ripping and feature excellent C2 error reporting.

    Re: Ripping HDCDs: Best practices?

foo_hdcd can analyze already ripped files, and reports if contains standard/HDCD content. If needed, you can encode a decoded set of files (for example, for a hardware player which doesn't support...

Re: Best ripping format for future encoding?

The CD/DVD drive returns PCM audio without header. The program has to encode that format into the desired format.

Re: Best ripping format for future encoding?

    For me, it seems that:

-When you rip in burst mode, it encodes the files on the fly.

-When you rip in secure mode, rips to RAM, and then encodes to final format.

Re: Best ripping format for future encoding?

You can encode your rips to any lossless format, because lossless is lossless, and they will retain the same data, as extracted from real CD.

Personally, I would go for FLAC or WV formats....

    Re: Ripping HDCDs: Best practices?

I do prefer the option A, to have a backup copy in lossless format. Then, I would analyze the music library (at least the freshly ripped portion) by the Foobar 2000 foo_hdcd plug-.in, and I would...
  8. Re: cpu encoding seems to be hanging around 90-99%

Check that there aren't any process which keeps always busy the CPU, and eats CPU time.

Use the task manager or, better, the Process Explorer program.

Also, make sure that your laptop isn't...

cd [Folder which contains that program]
cdvdcontrol --pio-limit on -d [LETTER OF PIONEER...

    Re: ripping to Flac problems

If you own any (relatively) modern CPU, go for FLAC -8 mode. Anyway, your CPU will encode files faster than your CD/DVD drive extracts content.

And delete HDCD DSP. For me, it's better extract the...

Re: Plextor PX-40 TSI / Ultraplex 40 max

Keep this drive! For me, they are near perfect for dBpoweramp: NEC chipset, don't cache audio, fast, accurate, re-rip frames very fast and can overread into lead-out.

    Of course, enable C2 pointers...
  14. Re: How to Install "Family Pack" on second computer?

Re: Recommend an Internal Drive - Please!

If you can afford that, get the DH-20A3P drive. It is very likely that this drive can overread into lead-out using dBpoweramp, a positive thing to have.

C2 pointers support depends on chipset...
