For me, it seems that your drive is faulty, and cannot control properly the position of the pick-up through an infinite screw. I used to repair drives suffering from this issue, removing the cover,...
I own very similar drives, and they are very good for audio ripping and feature excellent C2 error reporting.
foo_hdcd can analyze already ripped files, and reports if contains standard/HDCD content. If needed, you can encode a decoded set of files (for example, for a hardware player which doesn't support...
The CD/DVD drive returns PCM audio without header. The program has to encode that format into the desired format.
For me, it seems that:
-When you rip in burst mode, it encodes the files on the fly.
-When you rip in secure mode, rips to RAM, and then encodes to final format.
You can encode your rips to any lossless format, because lossless is lossless, and they will retain the same data, as extracted from real CD.
Personally, I would go for FLAC or WV formats....
I do prefer the option A, to have a backup copy in lossless format. Then, I would analyze the music library (at least the freshly ripped portion) by the Foobar 2000 foo_hdcd plug-.in, and I would...
Check that there aren't any process which keeps always busy the CPU, and eats CPU time.
Use the task manager or, better, the Process Explorer program.
Also, make sure that your laptop isn't...
qpxtool.exe is a GUI for scanning discs (supports Lite-On, NEC, Pioneer, BenQ, Plextor... drives) and an alternative program to PlexTools to control several features offered by real Plextor drives....
It's a command line program. You have to open a command line window (cmd.exe) and enter these commands:
cd [Folder which contains that program]
cdvdcontrol --pio-limit on -d [LETTER OF PIONEER...
Yes, you enable C2 and read into lead-out for this drive.
True, you own a set of excellent drives for ripping audio.
If you own any (relatively) modern CPU, go for FLAC -8 mode. Anyway, your CPU will encode files faster than your CD/DVD drive extracts content.
And delete HDCD DSP. For me, it's better extract the...
Keep this drive! For me, they are near perfect for dBpoweramp: NEC chipset, don't cache audio, fast, accurate, re-rip frames very fast and can overread into lead-out.
Of course, enable C2 pointers...
Check the spam folder anyway. When I purchased the familiy pack, I was sent a e-mail from dBpoweramp with my order number, and a link to start the download. Also, you can try to login here, and get...
As any application, just run the installer file, which you could run from a thumb drive or download from the link provided for you when you bought the app.

The very best way would be to buy a normal drive, and attach it externally using a PATA/SATA adapter to USB and an external power supply. So you can run externally any decent ATAPI drive, and you can...
For me, those old Lite-On drives worth their weight in gold, because can overread into pregap and lead-out (I need both for a special app which realigns main channel and subcode for data tracks, and...
If you can afford that, get the DH-20A3P drive. It is very likely that this drive can overread into lead-out using dBpoweramp, a positive thing to have.
C2 pointers support depends on chipset...
Samsung drives are always based on Mediatek chipset, except SH-S223C (which features a chipset made by Samsung).
I used to rip many CDs using a SE-S184M and a SH-202J drives, and both are pretty...
My suggestion: Try yourself the Sony drive, NEC based drives are pretty decent, with very good burn quality and good ripping abilities. I own a AD-7240S, and can rip flawlessly lots of discs, even...

The clever way would be edit a set of files, and use an app which can copy/export tags, so that you can paste/import to another set of files the same tags, without retagging everything three times....
Press the Review PerfectMeta Matches to edit tags, when the ripper fetches metadata from Internet. It is a more convenient option to edit tags than the main window, because you can use the tab key to...
TOC reported by dBpoweramp and near all software is the one provided by the drive, obtained when the drive mounts the disc and analyzes the info contained in the subcode of lead-in zone. That info is...
Can you select 24x, and the drive rips in burst mode at 10x-24x? Both are burst mode rips actually, but secure mode extracts additionally the C2 pointers.
Check the condition of discs you are...
