Problems converting from AIFF Mono to Apple Lossless

    Hi,
Am currently using dBpoweramp 15.1 with all the latest codecs. Since I only have good hearing in one ear I will usually rip my cd's to AIFF using 'as source' settings then convert to AIFF Mono. To save space on my iPod, will usually then convert the AIFF mono files to Apple Lossless.

Have been doing this for several years on various versions of dBpoweramp without a problem. Today when converting some new cd's had numerous error messages popping up when converting from AIFF mono to Lossless: Error audio file failed verification.

Have tried repeating the conversion several times with the same result. I get no error messages when converting the original rip to AIFF Mono. Nor when converting the original rip to Lossless Stereo.

    What am I doing wrong?

Here is a copy of a couple of the conversion error messages from my last attempt:

    Error converting to Apple Lossless, 'F:\DBPoweramp Test\AIFF Mono\Bruce Springsteen\Bruce Springsteen\Bruce Springsteen - Atlantic City.aif' to 'F:\DBPoweramp Test\Lossles Mono\Bruce Springsteen\Bruce Springsteen - Atlantic City.m4a'
    Error audio file failed verification 'F:\DBPoweramp Test\Lossles Mono\Bruce Springsteen\Bruce Springsteen - Atlantic City.m4a.tmp.m4a'.

    Error converting to Apple Lossless, 'F:\DBPoweramp Test\AIFF Mono\Bruce Springsteen\Bruce Springsteen\Bruce Springsteen - Badlands.aif' to 'F:\DBPoweramp Test\Lossles Mono\Bruce Springsteen\Bruce Springsteen - Badlands.m4a'
    Error audio file failed verification 'F:\DBPoweramp Test\Lossles Mono\Bruce Springsteen\Bruce Springsteen - Badlands.m4a.tmp.m4a'.

    Error converting to Apple Lossless, 'F:\DBPoweramp Test\AIFF Mono\Bruce Springsteen\Bruce Springsteen\Bruce Springsteen - Bobby Jean.aif' to 'F:\DBPoweramp Test\Lossles Mono\Bruce Springsteen\Bruce Springsteen - Bobby Jean.m4a'
    Error audio file failed verification 'F:\DBPoweramp Test\Lossles Mono\Bruce Springsteen\Bruce Springsteen - Bobby Jean.m4a.tmp.m4a'.

    'Error audio file failed verification'

You must have the verify option enabled, this cannot work if you are using DSP effects which change the audio, as the verification looks for a 100% match with source and later decoded, encoded file.

      Thanks for the info, Spoon.

I did uncheck the verify option and did another conversion. No errors this time.

However, before I read your post, I ripped a cd from Dylan's latest official bootleg collection and was able to make all my usual conversions with that verify option enabled. Just tried converting the Springsteen and Dylan cd's again with the option enabled: errors with the Springsteen conversion, none with the Dylan.

Only thing I can think of that I did differently with the Springsteen cd is that I changed the Album title before ripping the cd. I didn't use one of the PerfectMeta titles. But I've done that many times in the past with no problems. And have had the verify option enabled for quite some time. Am puzzled.
