    Help please old flac 1.2.0

    Can someone please help?

My media player (TVIX 6500) doesn't support 24bit audio which has been encoded with flac above version 1.2.0. In order to play 24bit I have to re-encode to flac 1.2.0.

I need to get this flac encoder and place within db poweramp converter.

Also once installed can I have two versions of flac installed? ie latest version and version 1.2.0?

Can someone please explain how I do this? I'm not technical so please explain to a novice user

    Thanks

    You will need dBpoweramp R14.4:

FLAC 1.3.0 was a major update, there should be no difference between 1.2.0 and 1.2.1 (only bug fixes in the creation of flac files, the files them selves should be identical).

Again I'm grateful for your reply but very sorry Spoon flac 1.2.1 doesn't work with my media player. It will play for a 24bit track for few seconds and then freezes.

Flac 1.2.0 works flawlessly. Sourceforge has flac 1.2.0 available for download but how do I get this into dbpoweramp music converter?

You would have to use the CLI Encoder codec (from Codec central above) and point it to flac.exe

Thanks spoon... CLI encoder and flac 1.2.0.exe installed but having a few problems.

Firstly, can you please let me know what I should put in command line?

The files I want to encode to flac 1.2.0 are 24bit flac thyy are fully tagged and ideally I'd like the converted files to overwrite the existing files but remain fully tagged.

                  Try:

                  -o "[outfile]" "[infile]"

Re: Help please old flac 1.2.0

                    Thanks... slight problem

If I use -o "[outfile]" "[infile]" I can see its converting and temp wav and flac file are written within the same folder, however by the time the process ends I have the same flac 1.2.1 which I started with not flac 1.2.0 and both the temp wav and flac files have disappeared. It appears that the new flac isn't overwriting the old.

If I remove the "-o" it does encode to 1.2.0 but a new short filename is created with isn't tagged.

In other words I end up with the old 1.2.1 and a new short filename (untagged) 1.2.0 See screenshot attached.

Is there a way to overwrite the existing flac and retain file tagging?

The version indicated is because the ID Tagger updates the version, but the file is still encoded as a 1.2.0 file. Try using the DSP effect ID Tag Processing, set to remove all ID Tags, the file should be a 1.2.0, see if it plays.

I appreciate your doing your best to help me but still having problems.

I've also removed the tags prior to conversion but still no joy I'm afraid.

Using -o "[outfile]" "[infile]" with DSP remove all tags the file is complete but doesn't play. I thinks it's still flac 1.2.1 which hasn't been overwritten within same folder.

When I choose the option to save file to different folder using -o "[outfile]" "[infile]" dsp tags removed the resulting file is 0 size. see screenshot

Should I give up on this now? I'd really like to convert to flac 1.2.0 but I can't get dbpoweramp to work using CLI Encoder codec.

I have so many 24/96 but my media only supports 24 bit files encoded with flac 1.2.0. 16 bit files are Ok.

I think you may be better served by contacting the developers of your TVIX 6500 and trying to find out why the player doesn't support 24-bit flac files encoded with v.1.2.1 or v.1.3.0.

They went bump for not paying codec licence fees. Besides firmware was rarely updated
