I have been using JHymn to convert purchased aac files from iTunes into mp3.

Until now... I had to reinstall iTunes and, lo and behold, the new version 6 cannot be tackled by JHymn (see their notice about the new version at http://www.hymn-project.org/jhymndoc/).

Does anyone know of another way of tackling this newer version of iTunes?

There's Auxiliary Input, for one
Another method is to install iTunes 5.x, make a new iTunes account (as your current one is tied to iTunes 6 after buying songs with v6), and then remove the DRM off of your songs with the current JHymn.

Thanks LtData, but how do I get iTunes 5? The iTunes site only allows version 6.

Two procedural ??

1) do I "deauthorize/unauthorize" the PC in question before uninstalling?
2) If I do these things will Hymn/iRevolt be able to open the .m4p songs that were purchased with 6.0?

No, songs purchased with 6.0 are not able to be unprotected at the moment. See here: http://www.hymn-project.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1314
