You can find some helpful information here:

Hymn asks for the apple id password because it needs this to help unlock your m4p files' DRM measures. Depending on how old/new your m4p files and/or iTunes is, you may find that Hymn no longer works. In that case, your best bet is to try jHymn (link is in last post of the thread I've cited).

If you have converted your m4p file to m4a, I would recommend that you use dBpowerAMP Music Converter to convert the file to mp3 (or other format of your choice) and to save it outside of iTunes. dMC will need the m4a/mp4/Apple Lossless codec (or similar mp4 codec) installed to read the m4a file. This codec is available from Codec Central (tab on top of page). If you cannot convert the file directly to mp3, try converting it to wave. Unfortunately, it appears that sometimes a file converted to m4a will still be at least partially locked.

Anyway, you can try these suggestions and if you run into troouble please tell us what you have done and what problems you ran into, including any error messages you received.

Best wishes,
Bill
