Sveta freezes when converting

Hi,

I have a problem with sending files to my Rio800. When I run the program, I select the files I want, then I select my device and "send as is". After I hit the "convert" button, a new window appears, stating that the program is converting file (it always starts with the last one... why?). Here the program sort of freezes. The file is never converted, the counter stays at 0%. If I try to close the program, I get the "really quit?" dialog, but nothing else happens when I click "yes". The only way I can close it is by using the Windows task manager.

I'm using Windows 2000. Any ideas?

Okay, I got it working now. If I double click the Rio800 icon on my desktop and drag/drop the mp3 files into the window appearing, it works - whick is great, because this is a much better way to manage the files on the player.

Fishbone, I'm experiencing similar symptoms to those you describe at first: I can't 'convert' (whether 'As Is' or actually converting the file format/bitrate) to my Rio 600.

The actual conversion process works fine, but the transfer to the Rio is causing the freezing--the same as you, with an unfinished process that won't cancel. I know this because 'converting' a playlist will begin, running until the actual conversion is complete, freezing when the transfer begins (e.g. after, say, 7% for a playlist with 10 even-length files); when I send 'As Is', it freezes immediately; when I convert to my hard disk there's no problem.

This is all very strange, because, as you report in your second post, the Explorer utility works fine for transfering files. It's just not nearly as convenient when you need to convert them first.

Like Fishbone, I'm running win2k. I hope this has all made sense, and that somebody has an idea or two.

I tried to convert one song from a 128kbps .mp3 on my hard disk to a 80kbps .wma on my Rio 600. The program ran until the indicator reached 100%, and then did nothing. The Rio showed no signs of communication either. I then tried to cancel the process, it prompted to see if i was sure, i said yes, nothing happened (i.e. the program didn't close). I then closed it with the task manager.

Did you post and answer yet. It would really be cool if this part worked.

well after reading on the forum and finally getting a working beta driver for the mpio fl100 in sveta from spoon, i tried what i wanted to buy the powerpack for, Convert To > MPIO FL100 using WMA9 96k VBR 2-pass
two problems: VBR is disabled (but the 2-pass checkbox isnt), and after pressing convert this is what happens>>
sveta-log.txt is all fine... it wasnt the problem in the first place!!
musicconverter.log repeats with the Unable to create file on portable palyer. the required CODEC could not be opened error.
Converting to harddisk was fine, that is bug free.
there seems to be a mistake in the lines/commands that sveta passes onto MusicConverter.exe that makes it lose where the codecs are located

the wma files that Sveta-log.txt refers to arent on my device, they never existed (never were created) to be transferred; but im confused as to why the log confirms they were sent to the device
