Trying to batch convert 10 to 20 files at a time and the system freezes at about halfway through. After reset the system returns to normal but will freeze everytime I try to convert a large batch. It will covert via right click without any problems, also it will batch convert a small number of files properly also.
Converting from ape to vorbis. The system will rip cd's to Ape properly. Have not tried to rip to vorbis as I have no need to do so.

This system is stable, no other app's have any problems.

So far I have uninstalled and run regedit according to Spoons posts.
I have stopped all non essential services, and closed Zonealarm and Anti virus.
I have switched priority levels, upon trying high priority system restarted on its own. Heat does not seem to be an issue but I will begin monitoring it.
Cpu usage hits 99% when converting.
Multi hard drive system, all 4 ide channels use 2 drives. Non raid. No usb drives in use. Involved drives may be on same ide channel, I'll have to check.

I have all the latest versions of software involved.
Drivers for chipset are current.
Windows XP SP2 with latest updates.
XP 2800
1 Gig Ram
Via kt400

Thanks in advance for your advice.

are you using "file selector" to do your batch convert?

Nothing should freeze Windows XP, check your system is not overheating (or is overclocked).

Using File selector. The multiplier has been set higher a few steps higher than stock, bus speeds are normal. I'll reset the multiplier and monitor temperatures and try again.

Reset multiplier to stock and converted 30 files without a hitch.
Cpu temp shot up to 56 Deg. C. but never went higher. Cpu usage stayed at 100% during the entire process. Thanks for the help Spoon and Razgo.
