I am new so bear with me.
I installed the newest version last week, been using it about a year unregistered. I'm trying to rip to ram and rip as converting but the options are not there on the powerpack screen. I have looked about the FAQs and the forum but can't find any answers.
It's probably something obvious but please indulge me. Feel free to ask any questions for clarification.

Ok....I'm game to take a shot! Can you explain exactly what you are doing, or trying to do, when you "rip to RAM and rip as converting." I can't quite get the picture there. No doubt it is my fault!
Perhaps you mean you are trying to rip a CD to your hard-drive and convert to some compressed format at the same time. If that is the case, what problem are you encountering exactly?

On this page:
file:///c:/Program%20Files/Illustrate/dBpowerAMP/Help/dMC/CDhelp.htm#Rip%20as%20One
near the bottom of the page is a screen shot of the dialog box you should see when you click the rocket button. under the heading "Power Button (rocket button on main page)" I don't see that. I just get a box with the following options:
skip finished message
play sound when finished
temp path
shut down computer after conversion
etc etc
this is not the dialog box that should be there. The one I get looks totally different to the one illustrated.
I can't find a dialog box like that in the version I have installed. Should I have uninstalled my older version before installing the new one?

If I remember correctly, you have to click the "PowerPack Options" button to find those two options.
Edit: Also, you don't need to uninstall your old version before you install the new version.

You have to go to Start>All Programs>dBPowerAmp Audio Converter>DMC Audio CD Input.....and then click on the rocket icon on that page to get to the screen and options you are looking for.

Yes, do make sure you are trying to do this from withing Audio CD Input. The options for just the converter do not include the "Rip to Ram" and "Rip & Convert".

Any PowerPack options disappear (or stop working) once it is past the trial period and still unregistered.

I have registered. I do not get the options I should when i click on the rocket in the CD converter and I did not uninstall when I registered and installed the new version, as it told me to install over the top of an older version in the instructions. I do have the preview CD bar so the look of it has changed slightly. I am using Windows 98se. I am ssuming why my version doesn't look like the XP like dialog boxes on the page i gave the link for.
I'll uninstall the whole lot and reinstall from the link in the registration email and see if that makes a difference.

Well that's just fantastic. My link has expired by a day and when i try to reregister with my order number it tells me my details are invalid. am i going to have to buy it yet again to get a version that works properly. I'm now ready to switch to CDex. This is really annoying.

After you click the rocket, did you click the "PowerPack Options" button in that window?

There is no power pack options button when I click the rocket button.
this is what i'm doing:
put in CD in CDRom drive.
Click dMC Audio CD Input icon
click the arrow net to rip button once CD tracks are listed
Right clicking the second option "Rip with Options (button right click)
then pressing the big rocket button.
there is a list of click buttons to do things before, during and after ripping as well as option to change the temp folder location
There is no other option button.
I assume I'm not doing this right to find the "rip to ram" and "rip & encode" options.
I'm just trying to speed things up as it takes longer to rip a CD than it does to play it.

You know what the probelm was?
When the window was opening when i clicked the shortcut icon it was only ever opening to half it's size so in the year to 18 months I've been using dbpowerAMP and associated software i never ever saw the other half of the window. I never realised the rocket was there.
What an idiot.
ps Spoon sent a link for a registered download and it eventually worked but only after trying for about 4 times.
Thanks everyone for all the help. Despite being an idiot, you didn't hold it against me.

LOL! That's because we've all been there, some of us several times! I have to say that, in my opinion, this superb program could benefit from a more simple and intuitive user interface.....perhaps the next version?
