I moved the slider for max bit rate to 320, now I can't move it back to lower it. It's stuck at the extreme right.

Check your advanced options, maybe something there blocks it.

Yes. I had same problem. Go to Advanced and select "Alt. Preset ABR". That should solve it.

Those options still don't give me the ability to adjust the Max Bit Rate myself. They set it to fixed values. Thanks for your help though.

Right. I wasn't thinking too straight. If you use VBR, is appears that the max is always set to 320.....I certainly could never move it from that position. I "solved" the problem by using the alt preset feature. Sorry for confusion.

You right-click on the bar to select the position of the upper bitrate slider.
