dMC is unable to decode encrypted files of any sort. If you can play the files in Windows Media Player, you can use Auxilary Input to record the file as you play it, and then encode it to whatever you wish. Instructions are here: http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=5362

it seems the aux input program only allows you to record as you play a cd. but, i have the wma. file recorded on my computer already from a long time ago. is there any way to get that to convert, am i not doing something right or just a complete moron or what.

Aux Input records what you play, yes. The wav file it creats can then be coded to whatever you want it to be, in this case mp3.

dMC Auxiliary Input is not for cd's - it is for anything that needs to be captured from the soundcard. You're getting confused with dMC Audio CD Input which is usesd to rip cd's.
If the file is protected, then that's all you can do, record it as it is played and use dMC Auxiliary Input.

The encrypted wma will probably not play in dAP. Play it in Windows Media Player and record it with Aux Input. Audio Cd Input, as Christina pointed out, is a separate program used for ripping CDs. Aux Input is used to copy DRM-protected files.

Any player that can play it is fine and record through dMC Auxiliary Input. Please read the instructions for that, as it's tricky at first until you get the hang of it.

It's called reding all the isntructions!
Right click volume in task bar> Open volume controls > options > recording > select all the input sources appearing below > OK > select Stereo Mix (or what u hear) , unselect all the others, keep volume 2/3 of the way up for the one selected > close this window
Go on with the recording.
