Have Windows 2000 & Adaptec Direct CD / Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4

After installing dMC via Sveta Portable Audio 2a I get a DIRECTCD.EXE application error which also continues after I have de-installed dMC and any other related components.

"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142)"

Did you install any Sveta Device Drivers?

Yes, I installed the RI0 500 driver.
I have fixed this by using the windows device manager and reinstalling the drivers for the CD drive. After rebooting I re-installed all of the dMC, RIO device driver etc. The CD drive works Ok this time but I got the blue-screen-of-death when plugging in the RIO 500 via the USB port (exception generated at memory address occupied by RioUSB.sys).

You might want to go to www.rioworld.org

there are other Rio 500 usb system drivers you can download.

I'll give some of them a try!

I have tried most of what is avaialble and some of the software claims to have succesfully formatted the memory and downloaded tracks. However, what i get to listen to is "diced carrots" - a mixture of the new and old (pre-format) in mixed slices.

Would this suggest that the card has a problem?

Am going to set up a machine with W95 and the original Rioport sw/drivers to see if that'll work.

You could upload a mp3 file to the 500 - then redownload it - if it sounds ok on the PC then it is ok on the Rio.

You might need to re-convert the mp3 file, it could be a mp3 format the rio does not like
