Hi,
first of all let me thank you for your application, which works like a charme under WinXP.
Sveta Portable Audio recognizes the 32 mb of internal memory and is able to send files, to format et cetera. Unfortunately your app does not recognize my brand new 32 mb Smart Media card.
Any suggestions?

Can the F20 read a 32MB SM card? I think I would have written the maximum size card in the F20 help file for Sveta, it is worth checking that first.

Sorry to butt in when I really don't know anything about Sveta.
On the offchance that what is happening is similar to what I first experienced with my digital camera when I installed a Smart Media card, I will just outline how I solved my problem. Ignore me if it has nothing to do with your case (which it probably doesn't :)).
My camera has 16MB of internal memory. I connect it to my pc using a usb cable, and I get to transfer photos using either Windows Explorer (which sees it as removable disk) or using a program that came bundled with the camera.
When I installed the Smart Media card, the program ignored its presence in the camera as did Windows Explorer when I was trying to transfer the same way. Totally undocumented feature. I had to buy a Smart Media card reader (the multi format type) and put my card in it and use Windows Explorer to access it (reading, writing). Maybe a card reader might help you too.
Anyway, that's my 2-cents' worth of unasked for advice :)

Hi,
thanks for your answers. :-)
The Schneider MPman F20 supports Smart Media cars up to 32 MB. So this should be fine. I guess, a card reader would solve my problems. But I don't like to buy such a reader, in order to format just one Smart Media card.

Oh, you'll find that soon you'll have tons of Smart Media cards for all sorts of things like digital cameras, cell phones....
If you get one, get a multi format reader as it's most useful.

... oh man, I am going crazy - right now! :( Now I've got a card reader and it works well. I was able to store/delete/play mp3's on it (via file manager). Unfortunately neither my mpman nor the software (original and Sveta) does recognize the card.

Ah! That then is another problem. Your card may not be compatible with your MPMAN. Could it be you got one that's got too large a capacity for it? Some devices may take only 32MB or 64MB smart media cards, even if larger capacity ones may fit inside them.

Oops, just noticed you mentioned before a 32MB card.
From my experience with those cards, you have to let the device format them, not the reader. After that you may store information on them.
