Here's the deal, I installed DAP and DMC on my mother brand new Toshiba laptop. Well, I installed the brand new Beta 5 of DAP and then I tried to add the tracks from my mothers music folder. And this is where the problem began, when I fixed it to auto add tracks from DMC and then I clicked the "schedule now" button and it tried to add over 400 tracks from a folder with only about 250 tracks. Then after it tried to add the tracks it just shut the MMC window down. I tried again and it tried to add about 600 tracks and shut dowbn the MMC window, well each time I try to add files it does this over and over again and each time it adds more tracks and shuts down. It's trying to add over 1500 files now from a folder with only 400 tracks in it. The only way I can add any new music is to click the add files from a folder option. I dunno what to do. I tried my old tactic of uninstalling and then re-installing both DAP and DMC and that doesn't work.

If you look at your collection, can you spot which files are duplicated? hold the mouse over the audio type icon and it will tell you where the file is, for files that are duplicated do they point to just one file, or multiple files?

No, it's not duplicating files, its just telling me that it is imorting all these files that aren't there, then after it hits the end it shuts the MMC down.

Yep.

Could be it is not able to move the existing files? because they are read only, and they are being added again. (but really it shouldn't add a file that exists).

It's adding the files in there, but it keeps wanting to add over 1700 tracks now of nothing and after that little window goes away, which says its adding tracks, the whole MMC crashes and I have to shut down DAP and re-load it. It is recongizing the tracks in it already, its just trying to add a ton of tracks that aren't there then *ker-plunck* it's gone. I took out DAP r3 b5 and installed DAP r2, I haven't messed with it since, but as soon as I get home from work I'll try to see if it is still doing it.

you need to remove the tick "recurse in sub-folders". as it will scan the entire hard drive for all audio. including all your windows sounds if windows is on the same drive.

Hmm, thats weird becuase I have the "recurse in subfolders" checked on my computer and it has worked great for the last two years. Besides, I sort my music into subfolders accoording to artist and then album, I've found that if I don't tick that my computer then it don't catch those in sub-folders. But that don't matter on my mothers laptop, she's pretty simple.

P.S.= I love the spell check Raz!!!

i only mentioned the recurse option incase it was looking at a heap of files outside the folder on your mothers PC.

but doesn't sound like the problem anyway.

I dunno, what it is doing, I thought maybe if I re-installed it it would help, but it didn't, so like I said, I'm lost.

Here is what you can do, create a new Music Collection, and do a scheduled check for new tracks. Copy the music collection database files somewhere safe (somewhere else), then do a 2nd scheduled check and send me the earlier database and the current database.

Yeah, I am, but my Mom isn't! She took her laptop with her on the road for a couple days, as soon as she gets back, I'll get on it, sorry about that.
