Since the software (Digital Media Manager) for my player is horrible, I want to use Sveta Portable Audio.
Though, I can't find any drivers for the HDD060.
Can I use any of the drivers there is, or will it be a release of the drivers for my player?

Yes, it does.

The 'Generic Removable Device' driver will work, have a look in the Beta section of the forum in a few days time, a new Sveta with a much improved Removable driver is about to be released.

Looked into it, it will not work because the Phillips hdd060 is like the iPod, it needs a database file to be updated, so only their software can upload files.

Ok. I see.
Even a specific driver for the player won't make transfering possible with other programs, for example Sveta?

It would need me to write a driver that can update the database, all this is dependant on numbers (of people wishing support for this player).

I see. Well. You know my vote is on the HDD060. :) I guess I don't have to post a reply in your new thread.
Thanks for all help. I believe time will show if I can get rid of my present software!

I'm here to throw in my vote for Philips HDD support, too! I have an HDD120 but the driver would probably be the samer or similar.
I was so frustrated to get this home and find out that it won't play music files simply transferred to its drive... and that my favorite music app doesn't have support for it. :-( ('Course Philips says the device won't support music transfers to the drive because of DRM.... I guess just another device BROKEN by DRM. It wouldn't matter too music if the software they threw in were half decent.)
Oops, sorry to be on the soapbox! Anyway, love the software and would love to see my Philips supported!
Thanks,
Joe

I really hope you'll start supporting the Philips HDD060, as it's a great player, but it's let down by really slow and non-functional software!
I would be glad to help beta-test a driver for transferring files, and of course pay for it. Just contact me at ab@andreb.com if you need a beta-tester :D
I would test for you as well!
It's exactly what escobar saying: player  ... software :thumbdown

Is there a way to replace the DMM ?
It seems that one has to copy the mp3 files to
\_system\Media\Audio
rename them somhow
and update the
MyDB
which claims "** This file contains an SQLite 2.1 database **"
and seems to hold the ID3 tags and the playlists
does someone know howto ?

I have send an e-mail to phillips, if many people do that maybye phillips will react. do this ! ! http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/dcbint?screen=mail&lang=eng&s=ccc
allready done.. but philips just answering standard-crap like "thanks for your email. we are always thankful for constuctive criticism... bla bla bla" ...
if there will be a driver for hdd060 (and the other hdd's from philips), than they can use their dmm at home. i wouldn't use it any longer.

Looks like this could be turned into a winamp Plugin they already have a iPOD plugin thats actively being developed when you install that plugin you can upload and download from the device , the ipod refers to a database file just like the Pillips HDD does .Yes the Software sucks the encryption shouldn't be to hard someone has made a program so you can upload from the HDD100/120 already with all the ID3 tags in place .you can even listen and manipulate the files if you look in the HDD060's _systemMediaAudio folder through Internet explorer .The only problem I see with a program like this is when Phillips tries to block any other 3rd party programs with firmware upgrades .

Wow, I found something interesting today: when you open the MydB file with SQLite Explorer (found at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/sqlite/files/SqliteExplorer/), you can see the build structure and the content of it. It seems that it is just a database with all ID3 tags af the songs on the HDD060.
Also some info about programming in C/.. to create an SQLite database can be found at www.sqlite.org

just a quick note on that comment: The software referred to in that post only REMOVES the files from the HDD to any computer. As of now it will NOT upload music to the device (although he is currently working on a version that can) Maybe Spoon can collaborate with him or exchange usefull information. Looks like programing thru winamp would be the best solution theres also a plugin that detects removable USB drives called gUSB that gives widows explorer like funtionality to winamp so you can at least transfer music onto the Phillips HDD from winamp like from home to work or vica versa, you just cant listen to it thru the player so you have to transfer it by the stupid lame DMM if you want to listen on the HDD .The winamp Ipod plugin works by acessing ipods database file and it can upload and download files from the device it can also format the Ipod so a bit of messing around with these plugins could be our solution without the whole overhead of creating a GUI .

The question is, does anyone know what hash it's using to create the new file names? If we could make sure we use the same algo (needed so we don't have collisions with DMM's names, although I wonder if it will work without changing names...) then this will be easy...
Also, we could try to re-write the entire firmware, using maybe the Rockbox project as a base, although that requires much more work.
I'm looking into what I might be able to do myself. If anything I may be able to write a simple graphical interface that will replace DMM...

Hi guys,
I have created small program which cleans HDD060 database, finds all *.mp3 files stored in your HDD060 and updates the DB.
I'm not used to programming GUI, so my tool does not have any, although it would improve it's performance (HDD060 DB would not be created from scratch, when you add only one mp3 file). I can't promise any imrovements (except some bug fixing) , but I can let you use it.
I guess you are interested, but I don't have any web page where I could publish it. Could somebody of you publish it?

try a winamp plugin then you dont need the GUI just use the winamp SDK
heres a disscussion thread over on winamp could end up being a sourceforge project like the winamp ipod plugin and creative Nomad plugin.

Hi I have the HDD100 Philips MP3 Player and I am also looking for a replacement for the DMM. I don't know how close the DMM for the Hdd100 is to the Hdd060 but there must be some similiarities. I know the one for the Hdd100 is also based on a database of sorts as I have putsed around alittle bit in it, but I didn't really know what I was looking for. So my question is, can anyone point me in the right direction as to how to make a program to songs on the player without using the DMM software that came with the player? I am willing to learn how to do some new code, but I do have a little previous experience, I just need a push in the right direction. It sounds like one of you guys made some sort of program to replace the DMM could you give me some info on how you made it? Thanks, I would be glad for replys to either here or my email:

From what I have seen on the HDD100 it doesn't use the same type of database as the HDD060. It has a .dat file with what looks like the file path, track name, track album, track artist, the scrambled filename, and the genre. I'm not sure what to open this file in so I use just notepad, but it puts in odd characters that make no sense, so I clearly need a different program. some of the other file types are .hdr and .idx does anyone know what kind of files these are, I've tried to look them up but haven't gotten much of anything.
If anyone wants a copy of the files that are on the HDD100 I can make a copy for you.
Thanks

Hi Guys,
I have created small web page for the tool "Update HDD060 DB".
I call it shortly DHAT (The DMM Hater's Tool) :-))
http://dhat.webpark.cz
If somebody can send me directory structure and DB file from HDD100 I can try to add support also for this hardware.

DHAT does work you have to load the MP3s in the root directory and delete any files in the _system/media/audio diectory .So then you basicly have a clean HDD then you have to run DMM once to create a nicw new clean non DRM data base. DHAT will not work with wma files at the moment.DHAT does not change the file names like DMM does and leaves them intact so you have to reload all the MP3s, oh well better than one by one with DMM .Well now I have a nice organised HDD and can drag and drop music folders from windows explorer or winamp with the gUSB plugin .
http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=139125
Now my HDD has beome useful and my wife can transfer songs from work becuse she doesnt have to load the stupid DMM at work ......good work saniel .Phillips made a big mistake creating crap software and software like DHAT stoped all thier DRM attempts and will come back to huant them .

oh.. ok.. now I understand. :o
I will try it as soon I'm back at home.

Yes you can put the files where you like ,personally I would avoid putting them in the _system directory as Phillips tries feebly to hide it .
YES! DHAT works!

Know it works very well!!!!...but I've just a little prroblem...
DHAT have a problem with a File:
In the hdd, the name of the song doesn't appear and the hdd 060 crash every time it play that song...
any idea to fix the bug?
there are some other problems...
some titels appear with "no title" and, as I said, not in the playlist.
I thought this isn't a problem, but it is...
is it possible to use the filename as song-title and the folder-name as playlist-folder-entry?
If not... well ... that's a point why I hate DMM ....
The problem with the crashing I have, too. Unfortunatly I don't know why this error occures :(

why not.. thats a good idea..
there is much to do depending on usability, so I think there will be much of work =)
just because so many people are searching for an alternative to dmm.

I have a problem without a solution. DHAT does not detect all my mp3's on the jukebox. I can's see any difference in the files. What could be the limitation?
perhaps the filename is to long? 255 chars is the limit...

ARE some of your files still in the hidden folder they are encoded with DMMs tag and not a regular MP3 tag .

Would new software for the HDD100 solve the track order problem?
well, I think you have to enter the track no. into the id3-tag of the mp3 or set numbers before the title than it works. I don't trust any updates of philips.. perhaps the comming firmware-updates would avert the use of tools like dhat...

The HDD 100 uses a different database some seem to think its microsoft Access
. I think as more programers ect get involved with this project there will be more open source development on the firm ware and software and we wont have to depend on phillips for firmware or software updates .This is funny from a firm who just released the Fastest DVD burner .

Im sorry but DHAT sucks more than DMM, no GUI, no playlists, no WMA and it can ruin ur database and make the rest of the songs all screwed in the player.
DMM might be crap coz its slow, ugly and it doesnt allow to drag and drop in Windows explorer but since its desgined for the player. Its the only thing you can use if you want all of the options available.
And DHAT is the only alternative it is quicker but it needs lots of developing still, bug fixes etc. maybe some kind of GUI.
Has anybody found any alternative firmware for the HDD060 that will remove the need for DMM.
All that really needs to be done is it get rid of the database system and have the mp3/wmas play without the DB. I know it sounds a lot easier than it will be to implement but it will fix the main problem, as opposed to a alternative to DMM, which IMO is'nt as functional.

Hi Guys,
I have created small web page for the tool "Update HDD060 DB".
I call it shortly DHAT (The DMM Hater's Tool) :-))
http://dhat.webpark.cz
If somebody can send me directory structure and DB file from HDD100 I can try to add support also for this hardware.

Well, you're right, DHAT needs lot of development. I've created the first version which is out just to fulfill my needs and I have not tested it much, because I decided to fix bugs, when I find some during my daily usage of DHAT. Than I saw lot of requests for DMM substitute on the internet and I published DHAT, so that anybody else can use it. If somebody doesn't like it, he can get back to DMM.
But I have good news for those who likes DHAT, but would like it to be faster and less buggy. I'm working on it! You can look forward to support of playlists, some other new features and much less bugs, 'cos this time I'm gonna perform lot of tests!

I dont know much about programming at all, but i agree with this. How hard would it be to actually just create new firmware for the HDD100? (or 060 or 120) That would solve all the problems. It would even solve the problem of Philips releasing new Firmware that would be incompatable with any new DMM alternative. The only thing that would be "Philips" would be the actuall Hard drive player. Everything else would be open source and changeable.

I Use winamp with the gUSB plugin and can drag and drop and delete files On the DMM no problems in the Media Libary . The HDD060 comes up as a external drive in winamp with the gUSB plugin .Saniel could you turn this into a Winamp sourceforge project like ml_ipod i know there has been a bit of discussion over on thier forums about DMM . If and do you want beta testers for the new version should we email you if you want beta testers or not .

Even if this thread is titled "HDD060" and my post concerns HDD100/120, i post here ... if somebody as a better place ...
Waiting for a powerfull driver / software for definitively erase DMM, i decided to write a little tool to manage files and database for HDD 100/120 device.
You can find a first release here : http://solonweb.free.fr

Hi there!
I've created a little synchronisation tool for the HDD060 which is also able to synchronize playlists.
However, it's a very early version - but the tool works fine for our HDD060 here :-))= - so there are some bugs to be expected.
You might try the program here:

Hi there
this is the first time I write here, but I've been reading this thread since its beginning cos I was looking for a software to replace DMM and this place looked promising.
I now use DHAT, and I gotta say what a wonderful thing! Ok, I had to erase all the songs I had on the HD cos DHAT was crashing when it tried to get the info from some of the songs that were already present, but now it works perfectly.
I had to change a little stg 'tho: placed at the root of the HD, DHAT didn't work, I had to put it in _system\media\audio... I say that just in case it might help someone having trouble
Anyway this message is just a VERY BIG THANKS to DHAT's creator.
have fun all of u

I would be very interested in a project like that. It would be nice to create a nice front end for a program like the one Solon made for the HDD100. I would just need guidance to point me in the right direction to find the right development tools. I don't know how much I could do. But it would be great if lots of people joined on.
Do other people have trouble with the program for the HDD100 loading .wma's into their player, cuz everytime I try it I get this wierd error that appears to be in a different language. But to Solon, good job, it is a great start!
Thanks

I personally think the best way to go is use Winamp for the interface like the winamp ipod support plugin written originally by Justin Frankel that is open source .Its puting itunes to shame now for Windows users anyway and a winamp clone of the iopd plugin for the DMM could be the ticket .

i just update the HDD 1x0 Tool to release 0.9 !!
The new release is at the same place : http://solonweb.free.fr.
Updates are describe on the web page, but major are :
- automatic processing "restore original names" and "Update DB" with start and close HDDTool,
- drag and drop files from Windows Explorer to HDDTool to add new files,
- manage files on HDD directly from HDDTool (delete from HDD, copy/move to PC).
have fun :-)

Hi,
i have no such files to try this ;-) so i can't tell you.
But the HDDTool does not modify the files when transferring them to HDD and it does no controls about DRM in files for adding them to the HDD database.
If you could send me by email one of your files with DRM i could test and say the result :-)

it depends on the DRM you have if you have Itunes songs for example you can strip the DRM with HYMN and this has been itergrated into the latest version of the Winamp ipod Support plugin and it does it on the fly .So it can be done and then you would need to convert the file to wma or MP3 until phillips or a 3rd party supports other formats for the firmware .
Im still in support of a Sourceforge Project that emulates the ipod plugin as the Ipod uses a database to acess files and syncs with the winamp media libary to transfer files like stephans program.Im sure if all the devs get together on this project you would see similarites in programing except for the data base issues between the HDD 0x0 and 1x0 s.

I put my MP3's (530) in the "I:\_system\media\audio" folder.
Then i start the "Update HDD060 DB.exe" from the hdd.
It open a little window where i can see that dhate find mp3 files.
But the update stops at the 14th track and closed...
There is no mp3 file with more then characters then allowed.
Whats the reason?
And now tittle is shown on my HDD.nothing...

Hi there!
I've updated my little synchronization tool ptune which is now in version 0.2
If you like, take a look at it's webpage
www.nowecor.de/users/stephan/cpp/hdd060.html
The tool allows you to synchronize a certain hard disk folder to the HDD060. It therefore reads the id3 tags of the mp3 files and also "copies" the m3u playlists in these directories to the HDD60.
In the new version I've removed some bugs, added more information output and added a feature to automatically sort playlists that are synchronized.

To the guy who is having trouble with DAHT did you clear the MP3s that are on the device first in the audio directory also delete the myDB file then run DMM to create a new database file ,if you havnt done so already ,and then run daht. Also I found if you try and send too many files there may be a invalid id3 tag that will stop daht so the best way is album by album so at least you work out which album or folder is giving you troubles .

I had a quick look at the MP3universtiy FAQ and they add drm to some files it seems so unleess you find what DRM they add and then convert it to mp3 or wma DMM wont do it .DRM is a farce anyway if it doesnt allow for Fair Use on your own equipment .they can sign the files anyway with thier unique ID .I would never sign up to a service that imposes strict DRM on thier files .eMusic doesnt impose DRM and at the momnet have a 50 free song givaway so look them up and give em a try if you want legal clean mp3s.

I don't think there will be any loss of quality attributable to this process. When you burn your original file to an audio cd, the file is converted to a wav and then to cda (no loss from wav to cda). Subsequently ripping the cda track involves recovering the wav file (no loss again). Conversion to some other format only involves whatever loss would have occurred anyway if direct conversion had been possible.

Yeah but Paid file sharing isnt exactly legal if its a hacked Kazza client like MP3 University supplies unless you are buying Alnet content so then you are dishing out more money .Mp3 University is basicly Kazza and winamp with tech support go look at the screenshots and look at the network numbers you will see what they are all about .
Paid Music services get thier licence of the copyright holder or thier record companies thats why you pay so much for them .

you can transfer music to the HDD with windows explorer or winamp with the gUSB plugin in the F:\ directory or a directory of your choice and then you update the database with DAHT from the HDD .You also can use ptune which I personally havnt had much sucesss with but I think my playlists may be corrupted or im doing somthing wrong like not sending the .pls file over and the .m3u . Everytime ive tried ptune my HDD turns off after I select a file. Ill have to just try sending mp3s next time I get it running .Any sugesstions on this .
I would prefer to use ptune as it synchs with the HDD 060 and adds the files to a simmar manner that DMM does ie simmlar "encrpypted " names in the hidden directory .All done without bullshit and crappy interface that DMM presents, it also adds playlists that are in order the way you want them for the first time .

As I said before p2p is legal , actually alot of the net runs on peer to peer networking and technology like the DNS protocol that assigns names to IP numbers .Peer to Peer file sharing is legal it is the trading of copyrighted that creates the legal problem .There are networks like Meroca that offer legal peer to peer radio so you can listen to another users music and they have aquired the licences to do this thier bussiness model is if you like a song then youy can download it legaly for a price from Merocas secure servers .Also there are some networks and groups that only trade in non copyrighted material or where the publisher has created content for the public domain.

You should have a look at stephans code and maybe release this one as open source .Or wait till ya get your player. Back to the drawing baord buddy .

Looks like you cant send directories and subfolders with Sveta to the HDDO60 you can send folders with files no problems and single files are ok too so looks like the problem I had in my rant above . Also to Spoon the progress bar indicates 100% well before the file transfer occurs with Sveta and when you click Sveta while the file transfer is in progress it hangs .Anymore bugs to report anyone .
I Posted above not to use this driver till spoon fixes it but I urge all to try it out so we can make sure all the bugs are ironed out of this thing
if your HDD gives you problems like the ! icon you can always format it and then DMM will rebuild sytem files when you run it again ( DMM still has a use) then transfer your Music files back with ptune till spoon releases a final release . I hope Spoon will make a compleate replacment so DMM will never have to be used again . Im sure if you paid Ptune's stephan to help you you could have a app that Phillips may be interested in. The HDD 100/120 guys are screaming for a replacement Im sure Solon could help you out there seeing he now supports playlists and WMA for that device .

Hi there!
I would like to announce the latest version of ptune, my Philips HDD060 synchronisation tool.
Again, some bugs have been fixed.
Also, the tool also synchronizes genre information which makes it even more compatible to DMM and the device's own software.
The tool is - as usual - available under

Am I right in thinking that the Sveta HDD060 driver does not work with WMA files? I have tried to copy [Send As Is] and convert [WMA V9] without success. Converting WMA files to MP3 works fine but takes time...
Thanks

Should work just fine, you have the dBpowerAMP WMA codecs installed? check by converting any file to wma with the music converter and hold the mouse of the wma file, it should show the details of said file.

The WMA files are copied to the HDD060 in both instances (copy and convert) but they appear in the root directory on the player (not in X:\_system\media\audio\ folder) hence they don't appear in the track list and don't play.

Look in the Extras option of sveta explorer and you will find the options search for lost files in database and search for lost files player then your wmas should be found m.Spoon is still programing blind with the HDD060 ,He has one on order but hasnt recived it yet .Still Sveta beats DMM already with encoding on the fly with the music conveter and easy transfer of Music and playlist creation .Also Good Bye Phillips DMM with its false DRM .I persoaly use the encoder to reduce my 320k MP3s down to 128k .

No, still no joy. I tried copying WMA files into the root directory and \_system\media\audio directory, used both Search for Lost Files options but got a message saying the database is correct and up to date.
Otherwise the software is great, no DMM locking up and tracks playing in order!

Thats right no DMM locking up ,Tracks Play in order , also no 100% CPU usage ,you arnt treated like a criminal and to tranfer tracks to and from the device .You can tranfer legaly purhased m4P's (itunes) and get them converted on the fly .Playlists are not a chore to make .Easy to delete files .The program isnt written in Java .

I'm happy!!! I tried to run DMM on my laptop but it allways crashed and I had to restart. So I decided to give back my HDD 060 and get some other player. But then I found this side. Thanks to all you clever people for your help. Special Thanks to Spoon. I downloaded SvetaPortableAudio-r5b4.exe and SPA-PhilipsHDD060.exe and now it works! (I can't find out how to load playlists, the m3u files are only 1 kb and are not shown on the player.) But I'm happy that I can put music on my HDD. Thanks a lot. nico.

How are you adding the playlists? check the right playlist option (ie copy tracks and create playlist) is set in Sveta Explorer >> Options
then copy the playlist to the philips using sveta explorer.

Any news from the guy who programmed DHAT?
It just works fine, but it would be perfect if it could handle with genre-tags and playlists :-)

In a earlier post in this thread Saniel the developer of DHAT indicated that he would like to work with Spoon in developing the HDD060 Driver. Seeing that Sveta and the HDD driver have been the best solution yet I dont expect to see much 3rd party development. This is because most people where releasing programs till Spoon came up with a solution for the HDD060 .DAHT and Ptune are both open source so they still be could be developed if someone wants to take them up .The beta versions of Sveta and the Phillips Driver are free so at the moment you dont have to pay for them .If you want the full versions you need to pay for them maybe we should all send Phillips the Bill ha ha .

Hi,
When uploading music files to my HDD060, my computer crashes as soon as I try to upload the SECOND mp3 file. Using MusicMatch Jukebox produces exactly the same fault. I've tried everything, updates etc. What am I doing wrong? WinME. (Data files with explorer no problem)

Yes, I've tried all the programs I could lay my hands on, includíng Sveta. Same result! (Tried DHAT as well but it seems that nothing shows up on the display afterwards).
Perhaps the HDD is not in order. Is the windows driver OK - USBMPHLP.PDR from 06/08/2000. VMM32.VXD listed as well. The main problem seems to be that the computer mostly issues a warning that the device has been removed without using the proper method of disconnecting, whereas I haven't done anything and the unit is still connected.

I have uploaded about 20 titles by now. But as i said one by one. Sometimes i can't even upload one file. ??
I have tried different USB Cables and Ports but it's allways the same ??
I have the newest Firmware. Tried it on DMM v. 3.0 and also on Sveta. Same problem ??

There's no way i'm going back to DMM now even if they have leapt up to version3.0 - you can't polish a turd. i got sveta yesterday and easily added new files to the player without any trouble at all, and unlike with DMM changing the tags of the tracks on the player is actually feasible!
Brilliant bit of kit finally has a useable app to make it work i feel like i've just got the hdd all over again. Thanks Spoon!

I agree Sveta is still far better than DMM even with the V 3.0 upgrade .Looks like Phillips visted the dbpoweramp forums becuse now they have artist ,album and genre options and drag and drop .There is better ID3 tag editing but its still written in Java even though they dont provide Linux support .Musicmatch is always asking to to upgrade al la Realplayer ,so it could be classed as adware . I will stick with Sveta .I really have major issues with Digital Rights Management (DRM) as it limits fair use of your own files that you legaly own so I will keep using 3rd party software until the major media compaines and manufactures realise that DRM doesnt work and encoding identifiers into the media file does .

Piss DMM off and get svetta. If you need DMM it is also updated on the Phillips site the version 3.0 so try that if its your first time setting up your DMM. SPoon should look into laoding the firmware or a firmware updater for the Phillips Driver for Sveta to alivate the problems DMM cuases becuse its written in Java .

Hey, just one thing:
What about DHAT?
has it been forgotten in a drawer or something?
I mean it was great: it was a really light program, and you didn't have to install it on any computer you wanted to get music from...
I wish it could be improved, with for example .wma support, genre support, accentuated letters support (when you try putting a ö,ï,é,è, it only shows a X)....
Sveta is cool alright, but to me it has disadvantages compared to DHAT, so I hope that one of you will follow the work that's already been accomplished on DHAT
I wish I could do it myself, but I don't know a thing about programming....
Anyway, I'd be very grateful if one of you could do that

Also after formating the hdd it does nothing but showing me an exlamation mark
So right know im really pissed, because none of this crap works!

Hello, Just installed svetsaexplorer for my neighbour. He has bought a hdd060 and we've also figured that DMM is bobbins.
I've installed the driver for him, but we've had some more difficulty. When we've tried transferring files over the folowing error has popped up:
svetaexplorer has caused an error in PHILIPS HDD060.DLL
svetaexplorer will now close
Has this anything to do with his files being WMA's ?
If so do I need to convert all his audio files to mp3 ?
Spoon
09-29-2004, 04:58 PM
First make sure you have the WMA codecs installed in dbpoweramp, then try to convert a WMA file outside of Sveta to something like mp3, if you can do this then Sveta shouldn't be crashing.
I am thinking that your WMA files are encrypted.
nigthetrooper
09-29-2004, 06:02 PM
How do I check the codecs are installed ?
Is there a tool with the dbpoweramp that can convert the files ?
If they are encrypted what can I do ?
Thanks

Run dMC Configuration that will show what codecs are installed.
To convert, right click on wma file >> convert to >>
If it is encrypted there is nothing you can do (you music is locked).

I think this is rediculous. I finally got the thing installed but now I can't add any music bcause the philips program crashes every time. In 6 hours I got one song on the player! It would be awesome if it worked, do they test these things before they ship em out? Philips better do something about this before they lose all there customers.

Thanks,
Joe

Am I missing something here?

Hello everybody,
I own the hdd070 model, and I'm planning to create a linux software that can replace DMM, but I don't have Windows so I can't make tests. I need help from people that have Windows and a hdd070 (or another model that works the same way like hdd060, but hdd100 and hdd120 are fine too because I may be able to support all models). I'd like to have some people using the real philips DMM to put a few files on their hdd, and sending me an email (at sfrederic@club-internet.fr) with :
- model name of their hdd
- complete listing of the drive (all paths of all hidden/visible directories and files)
- all files in the drive excepted music files (for example in an attached zip archive)
Please create two or three playlists, and use one or two WMA file besides mp3 files if possible (I want my program to support WMA).
I'd be glad if somebody could do that :D. Linux lacks a good software for the hdd, and moreover my work could be usefull for the Windows users too as I may discover unknown things about the guts of the hdd. The more examples i get, the best my program and knowledge will be.

it's not what you'd call grahicall appealing, but I found it pretty efficient. too bad it didn't support .WMA and playlists, and seemed to have little problems withe some MP3 files.... but I think it should be a good basis, and the concept of just copying your files to the hdd, then launching the program (allowing copy from HDD to PC, no changing names, organised directories...)
if you decide and manage to improve DHAT, I'll be glad to test it
