Try on Advanced on Sveta Add device and set different delay factors, if you have access to an older PC try that as well (to test the Rio is working).

Yeah I already tinkered with the delay factors....No luck with any of them.

Ok well I have tried everything... Tried downloading different programs (Sveta, MP3Man, etc.) but without any luck. I have tried messing with the settings...no luck. So it must be a broken cable. I was wondering if the cable on the link posted below would work.....please get back to me ASAP!!! Thank you!

No it will not, you are perhaps best looking for a cheap Rio 500 player.

Hello:

I have a couple of Rio 300s which work fine with SVETA (except in an IBM Thinkpad whose parallel port settings are not compatible). Have you checked your parallel port settings?

I never could get MP3man to work under XP. Riostitude worked, kinda, but transfers were staticky and sometimes incomplete. Sveta works great!

I have a spare cable I'd be willing to sell if you think that's the problem (don't see why it should be but a couple of other posters have suggested the same). Try reversing the cable direction in the parallel port adapter and player first.

Does the player work under Win95/98 with the original software? If so, it's not the cable.
