Got a problem that I really need so help with people!!!

I've ripped a number of tracks from CD and loaded these onto a 20gb ipod. The problem is that the ipod fails to play a number of these tracks; it just skips across them and eventually lands on one it can play. However, these play badly, skipping it's way through the track. Oddly, I can play the tracks the ipod skips past on the PC via Sveta - I qualified that these were coming from the ipod by deleting the tracks from the hard drive. I then thought there maybe conflict's between DB, MusicMatch, Nero, Winamp etc. so I did a full uninstall of all the other media players and then just loaded DB. No joy here either - problem persists. I've tried ripping from the DVD-ROM drive and the DVD Writer - again, no difference. I should also add that some of these tracks were ripped months ago and others today. The older tracks all have played quite happly on another 256mb mp3 player and on the PC so I really am at a loss as to what is going on - all in all this is driving me mad!!

So, if anyone out there has ANY suggestions on what they think the problem is and suggestions on how I can cure this, I'd appreciate any help you people can offer.

I get a similar problem with my MuVo NX
but it just locks up on the tracks until you skip them.
they play perfectly on a PC
no ID3 tags or anything to cause problems.
However if I then re-upload the songs which are messed up one by one they go on fine.
Any idea's Spoon (Not pressing on this as you're updating the driver for the MuVo soon (any idea how long for the beta to come out)

So anyway the reason I replied. Does uploading them one by one (although tedious) have any effect (if it does it could help Spoon locate any problems IF they are with the software)

If you can have the mp3 files on the PC before uploading, upload them to ipod, . muvo, any problems then redownload the tracks to the PC and compare with original.

It will either be not uploading correctly, or the iPod does not like the mp3 compression settings used.

Interesting Spoon - have you found particular settings on DB that the ipod doesn't like? I ripped on slow at 128 - pretty much standard I'd have thought. Anyway, looking at a number of ipod forums, this does seem to be a fairly regular topic, but I find it very odd that only certain rips seem to be affected.

None myself, it will either be something hardware related (ie the file does not copy correctly, I say hardware because an iPod appears as a drive so a file is just copied over as it would be in explorer), or something to do with the mp3 file, if it plays file back on the PC then that should rule out the hardware transfer possibilty. 128Kbps should not cause a problem through.

Hmmmm... Well, erased all the files on the ipod via Sveta and I re-ripped all the offending files via Sveta and direct conversion to the ipod and yep, you guessed it - no more skipping.... yipppee! However, I came across another problem Spoon and I guess this could be a tagging issue. I created a folder with the album name and dumped the ripped files to this folder. What I can't work out though is that the ipod created another folder with the artist name and duped all the files in there too!! Is this something to do with the "Smart Folder" option in eXtras in Sveta? If so, how do you turn this feature off??? If not, what caused this to happen?

Can you give a real example of a filename it created on the iPod (full path) and the filename you would like?

I know that Corrupted MP3's can cause Players to crash and skip...
