It's been weeks (months???) now and it seems that no one has any clue yet as to why some Rio 500s work perfectly with rioport based programs (Musicmatch, RealOne, etc) and not with the far better looking neat pieces of software you guys make. Actually, it seems that nobody really cares. I do, and not the least because I paid to register DMC powerpack primarily to use it with my Rio...
Installation of SPA is still a breeze, but the problem is that when running it shows 0Mb on my Rio (actually holds 64+128...). So, once again here goes my log (looks perfectly normal, although the Rio doesn't show any activity of any sort on the screen)

I care! :)

Which version of windows do you have. Is this Rio one of those purple translucent ones?

It's translucent teal one

Where abouts in the world are you? and would you like to do a short term swap for my perfect grey Rio 500?, I could then look-into getting it working with these translucent ones.

You know what's really funny, I have a translucent teal Rio 500 myself and it works properly, and I've been lazy and am still running on SPA 2 beta 6

Hmmm the plot thickens...

gr is your Rio 500 using the latest firmware? (you can get it from www.rioworld.org)

firmware is 2.16
I live in NY state and would be happy to do the short term swap. My gratitude would be eternal if you find a way to turn around the problem!

I just upgraded to SPA R2 finally and everthing is working, the Rio 500 was detected and added and I've just transferred an album across and listened to it, it's working fine. My Rio is running firmware 2.16.

Modatic: what OS are you running? do you connect your Rio through a hub?

this is gr37, I finally recovered my login and password ;)

spoon: the OS is XP but there was some change to my problem, unfortunately with a rather serious outcome, please check the thread I just posted (Memory loss 20896kb)

I'm running mine on XP Pro, connected directly to the system through a M/Board USB port. I could try connecting it to the hub on the back of my keyboard if you want

The thing is that I'm using internal memory only, I haven't got any smartmedia cards, so I have no need for the combined memory tab which is what you're having problems with.

Ditto (although I am in dBPower/Sveta eval period -- so less frustrated!). Rio500, firmware 2.16 (tried 2.15 too), XP-Pro. Get 0MB with similar log to yours.

Went back to MusicMatch, which has a (legacy) Rio500 plugin. Thing is, though, firmware 2.16 is a definite no-no with MusicMatch...works fine with 2.15 however.

The problem with this origional Rio was caused by two things, it was a later transparent Rio and the Software had to be modified to work with it.

Also there was a USB camera that was interferring with the Rio.
