And, as a side note, most of the website site and the help files are translated in French! I am in the process of reviewing it all.
Thanks go to Jim2k for helping out a WHOLE lot about that!

lol :D
I'll have to contact Spoon about how to make it all fit.. especially for the pictures, seeing as I have no idea what his structure is for the website itself or how he would want to do it, like place it on a mirror somewhere or something..
Also, I'll need some of the pictures to be redone in french or something if at all possible.

i think Spoon uses "front page" HTML editor from memory.
yes hopefully we will see it listed as a mirror site for french. probably just dbpoweramp.net/french
what do you mean about the pic's redone in french? you mean the screen shots but showing with french words/font?

Well actually, until the software itself is translated, getting new screenshots is kind of useless. But some screenshot were taken and then text was added on top of it, this should be translated, because for example, MMC - My Music Collection, becomes Ma Collection Musicale or MCM in french. And that's just one of many examples..

ah i see. do you know which files the words are in? or is this in the core?
just wondering where the editing would take place. and perhaps an external script could be made so the lang can be switched to french.
and then all we would have to do is edit the plugin/script and dap would do the rest. i'm not sure. just thinking out loud here.

I guess the best way to do it would either be a CSV file or change all strings of text in the software to constant that would be read from a header file.
But this is actually up to Spoon about how he would implement it, but since he was already thinking about translation, maybe the mechanism to do it is already implemented.

oh hang on, would this part only need a French Skin?
RossRoy
11-19-2003, 11:06 PM
Not all of it.. the Main Skin could probably be changed to french easily, the context menus (right click) and just about any menu that uses standard Windows components will need some form of text file for translation

ok that makes sense.
well i can easily change the existing default skin to have all French words so a default french skin will be available. that will take care of that part.
I can help you with that one screen at a time with what words need changing.

I'll start by finishing the review of the french version, and then we'll see about what needs changing in terms of screenshots and stuff

Surprise :),
Don't spend anytime on the dMC help file, it is currently being re-written from scratch.
