View Full Version : Can't add Rio 800

I am running win98, have installed the music converter, codecs and Rio 800 drivers. When I try to add a device nothing shows up in the list. 98 sees the 800 (control panel, system, devices), WMA sees the device but not Sveta Portable Audio.

I have tried uninstalling and re-installing but no luck. The same files and Rio work just fine under my notebook running 2000. Any ideas/suggestions?

Robert - try adding the 800 in Windows 98, after unsucessfully trying, quit the add devices program and look in

C:\Program Files\illustrate\dbpoweramp\

there will be a file there called sveta-log.txt - please post the contents of that file here.

RE: Rio 500 - I have answered on the other thread

I will try a Rio 800 on my Windows 98 next week sometime.

Can you try Windows Media Player v7 to connect to your Rio 800? Sveta uses the same communications as WMP v7.

Spoon,

I installed WMP v7 and it saw the 800. Then I went back and tried to add the 800 and voila... it worked.

I now have a new issue. When I exit the converter I get a stack dump. The files are converted and transfered so I can live with the error but if you have any suggestions....

There must have been something missing from the system that the WMP added, I will have to investigate.

The crashing on exit is a known bug, I will fix it ASAP

Hello Spoon,

Thanks for your reply. That has solved the problem for me as well. The problem was that I had always been using Rio's standard Real Jukebox software which is why SPA couldn't see my rio 800.

As soon as I got Windows Media player to see my rio 800, SPA also saw it and installed the desktop icon.

However, I am not out of the woods yet! Whenever I try to run SPA from the desktop icon, it says 'The Power Pack needs to be installed to run the program' and asks me to go to the website.

I thought the power pack is installed as part of SPA. I downloaded and installed the power pack again anyway, but I still get the same message and can't run the program.

Please help. I'm getting so close to success!

Thanks

HeSave.

Sounds like it has expired, if it has run this:

Hey thanks Spoon - it works fine now.

Your program is great. I haven't played with it much yet, but I have a few ideas that I will post soon in the Wishlist.

Thanks again.
