decompression error

This is a sample of the output on a new cd when I try to rip it using the inbuilt MP3 codec.

Unable to read CD, scratched disk?

Some of these tracks are quiet at the begining others have gaps in the music.

Why dioes this happen? WMP9 converts to wma with no problems.

If I convert from wma to mp3 using inbult codecs the length of the track is incorrect.

This has happened with different original discs, copies of discs and when I change PC the same problem occurs with the disc
