Surely dbpowerAMP can convert to , from what I have read , the unofficial internet audio standard, associated with .au files, viz G.711 mu-law, viz my personal choice as a novice webmaster.

How on Earth do I go about encoding to .au ?

I appreciate any concerns to the effect that this message is perhaps off-topic but I fairly believe that dbpowerAMP can do this and that for me to achieve my goal, I need 'support' through this 'support' forum'.

To those that still disagree, I apologise.

I forgot to mention that the MS G711 encoder is installed and reporting that that it is working.

The description of this driver is...

"Compresses and decompresses CCITT G.711 A-Law and u-Law audio data."

The version is Microsoft Version 4.0

(I assume decompression is another word for playing or passing onto a player ?)

That decoder is only for Wave files that have been compressed with the G.711 Wave Compression codec.

I know .au files are on my list, I will get around to writing a au decoder and encoder one of these days, busy busy busy.
