Do either RipNAS or RipNAS essentials support batch ripping using Sony XL1B changers under WHS ?.

If so am I correct in assuming that whilst I can not use secure rip that all failed rips will be identified so that i could manually re-rip problem discs using the Teac drive if I brought the RipNAS or the essentials bundle with the drive ?.

Cheers,

Tony.

In theory you could use any batch ripper driver with the RipNAS (including robot drivers), but the problem is configuring the drives to batch ripper (because RipNAS uses the Batch Ripper as a Windows Service, and any configuration would only be present in local system, not the 'default user' Windows Service account), so I don't think it is easily possible.

That is a shame. I guess I will just have to keep on looking.

Many thanks for the response.

I suppose this means you'd need to manually copy some registry entries to a different subtree, and perhaps some files to a different account?

Yes

So it may be a bit tricky but possible. Hmmm. I guess it would be too easy to assume that I could just export the registry before and after and run a comparison of the two. That way just a few tweaks of the strings dependant upon the users and I could just re-import the changes. A similar thing could be done for the files.

I don't suppose that there are any chances of a demo being released so that I can try it out ?. I am about to build a new server so I have an existing WHS installation that I can afford to play around with.

Tony.

In the short-time there will be no trial of Essentials, its design does not lend well to the trial mode of dbpoweramp R13.

Ok - thanks for the reply.

I think I will sit this one out for the moment but in the meantime if anybody does manage to get this working with a Sony changer I would appreciate a little note in this thread to say so.

Cheers,

Tony.

We in this instance would be happy to refund a purchase if you could not get it working.

What a fantastic offer and top notch service. I presume if I can get it to work that I can purchase the secure Teac drive afterwards for any problem discs that the Sony can't handle ?.

Tony.

You could, remember though RipNAS is designed to work with 1 drive only, so you would only have 1 drive connected at any time.

You will need to config the drive through remote desktop.

Then export the key:

HKCU\Software\Illustrate

to

HKU (users) \Software\Illustrate

and copy the files from:

%appdata%\dbpoweramp

to (something like)

%appdata%\..\Default\
