iPod only plays 10% of tracks

Having recently purchased Sveta I've converted 8,500 FLAC files to MP3 on my 5G 80gb iPod using Batch Converter. I can see all the files in Explorer and play any file from there on Windows Media player. However, although the iPod lists all the music it can only play around 1 in 10 files (playing on shuffle makes it bearable) randomly distributed across my collection.

Can I get the iPod to reassess what's on it's drive?

Did you run the reg file listed on the iPod driver page?:

Spoon, no I hadn't.

I have now though and still have the same problem. Do I need to convert all the files again?!

You will have to take the files off the ipod and put them back on, if smart conversions are on then copy them off then back to the ipod.
